The irony was too perfect: the Global Climate Summit was delayed for three hours due to "severe and unexpected weather conditions." A freak blizzard grounded flights for delegates who were flying in to discuss, among other things, the dangers of extreme weather caused by a warming planet. Critics called it "peak hypocrisy," while attendees called it "an unfortunate but timely reminder of the very issues we're here to solve." The opening speech was hastily rewritten to include a joke about the weather, which landed with the thud of a heavy snowbank.
