Clean the file before Instagram reads it
Remove AI MetaI kept uploading the same JPEG and wondering why the AI info chip came back. The chip is not a caption. Instagram can read a Content Credentials manifest and other provenance tags that are already inside the file. The fix that is actually in my control is to clean that file, check the report, and upload the download. I do that on Remove Instagram AI Info.
What I do with one still
1. Export the JPEG, PNG, or WebP I intend to post. A screenshot of the Instagram screen is the wrong file. An iPhone HEIC can go in directly. The download comes back as a JPEG.
2. Drop it on the page. Leave the mode on AI only. Press Inspect only if I only want the list.
3. Press Clean this file. The After column is a new read of the cleaned bytes, not a toast that says "done".
4. Download the file whose name ends in -cleaned. Upload that one. The original next to it will carry the same tags again.
Nothing in that pass is uploaded to the cleaner. The work happens in the browser tab.
What I do not tell people it does
It does not remove SynthID or TrustMark. Those sit in the pixels. It does not flip off a label on a post that is already live, and it does not undo a disclosure I turned on in the composer. If the After report is empty and Instagram still labels the new upload, the signal was not a tag this tool can see. I stop there.
When one file is not the job
The first clean in a browser is free. The next one stops on the unlock. Pro is a one-time purchase, not a subscription: unlimited images, plus a batch ZIP when a whole folder has to be cleaned the same way. The amount and what it includes are on pricing. I do not pay just to learn the report. I pay when the second file is a real upload.
The general cleaner, if the job is not specifically Instagram, is the tool on removeaimeta.com.
