Cineva — Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 19, 2026Summary
Cineva is designed so that most personal choices stay on your iPhone (watchlist, favourites, streaming preferences, notification toggles). Network requests are used to load catalog data and optional ads. If you enable push notifications and configure a backend URL in the app build, a device token may be sent to your server as described below.
Who is responsible
The data controller for personal data processed in connection with Cineva is the operator of the Cineva app on the App Store ("we"). You can reach us at mustaphafx64@gmail.com for privacy-related inquiries. If you trade under a registered business name, you may add it on your App Store listing and update this section to match.
What we process
On-device storage. The app may store, using iOS storage such as UserDefaults: your watchlist and favourites (movie/TV identifiers), selected streaming watch providers (TMDB provider IDs), notification preference switches, onboarding flags, and similar app settings.
Device locale / region. To show relevant "where to watch" and discover results, the app may use your device's region/locale when querying TMDB (for example as a watch_region parameter). This is not continuous GPS location tracking.
Push notifications. If you turn on notification categories in Settings and grant iOS permission, Apple may provide an APNs device token to the app. If the developer configures an HTTPS registration URL in the app, the app may POST that token together with your three notification toggles (new movies, trailer alerts, app updates) to that server so you can receive pushes. If no URL is configured, the token may only be kept locally for debugging.
Advertising identifiers. If Google Mobile Ads is enabled, Google's SDKs may collect or use identifiers and usage data according to Google's policies to show and measure ads.
Network access. When you browse the app, your device contacts TMDB (and, when applicable, YouTube, ad networks, or your own backend). Those requests typically include standard technical data such as IP address, which those services process under their own policies.
Why we process data
To provide discovery features, personalize lists, remember your preferences, show trailers or previews where available, deliver optional advertisements, and—if you opt in—send marketing or editorial pushes through your chosen channels.
Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Data is shared only as needed with: TMDB (catalog), Google (if ads are on), Apple (App Store, push infrastructure), YouTube/Google (embedded or linked trailers), and any HTTPS endpoint you configure for push registration. Each has its own privacy policy.
Retention and deletion
On-device data remains until you delete it inside the app or remove the app from your device, which erases local app data under normal iOS behavior. Server-side retention, if you later add accounts or APIs, should be described in an updated policy.
Your rights
Depending on your country (for example the EEA or UK), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because much of the data is local, deleting the app or toggling features off is often the simplest way to remove it. For server-held tokens, use the contact in this policy.
Children
Cineva is not directed at children under the age where parental consent is required for data processing in your region. If you believe we have collected a child's data inappropriately, contact us so we can delete it where the law requires.
International transfers
TMDB, Google, and Apple may process data in multiple countries. When you use their features, their international practices apply.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when features change. Check the "Last updated" date in the app. Continued use after an update means you acknowledge the revised policy.
