Freeplex — Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Freeplex is a movie and TV discovery application that helps users discover films and television shows, save favourites and watchlists, view information and recommendations, and open available trailers or previews.

We respect your privacy and aim to keep most of your personal choices and preferences on your device.

This Privacy Policy explains what information Freeplex may process, how third-party services used by the app may process information, how advertising and tracking permissions work, and the choices available to you.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Freeplex may store information locally on your device using technologies such as iOS UserDefaults and other local storage mechanisms.

This information may include:

- Favourite movies and TV shows
- Watchlist items
- Movie or TV identifiers
- Selected genres, moods, filters, or discovery preferences
- Streaming-provider preferences
- Notification preferences
- Onboarding and consent-related state
- App settings
- Advertising frequency counters and similar app configuration data

This information is generally stored locally on your device and is not used by Freeplex to create a user account or personal profile on our own servers.

Deleting the app will normally remove locally stored Freeplex data from your device.


3. Movie and TV Data

Freeplex uses The Movie Database (TMDB) and related services to retrieve movie and television information.

When you use Freeplex, your device may communicate with TMDB to obtain information such as:

- Movie and TV titles
- Posters and artwork
- Release dates
- Ratings
- Genres
- Descriptions
- Cast or related metadata
- Availability or provider information
- Regional discovery information

Freeplex may use your device region or locale when requesting geographically relevant information, such as regional watch-provider availability.

Freeplex does not use continuous GPS location tracking for this purpose.


4. Trailers and External Video Services

Freeplex may provide links to movie and television trailers or previews hosted by third-party services such as YouTube.

When you choose to open a trailer, you may be redirected to the YouTube app, Safari, or another external service.

Those services may independently collect or process information according to their own privacy policies.

Freeplex does not host full copyrighted movies or television episodes.


5. Advertising

Freeplex uses Google Mobile Ads and related Google advertising services to display advertisements.

Depending on your region, privacy choices, Apple permissions, and advertising settings, advertisements may be personalized or non-personalized.

Google Mobile Ads may process information necessary to provide, secure, measure, and improve advertising services.

This information may include:

- IP address
- Device identifiers where permitted
- Advertising identifiers where permitted
- Advertising data, such as advertisements displayed or interacted with
- App interaction information
- Performance information
- Crash or diagnostic information
- General device and technical information

The exact information processed may depend on your device settings, region, consent choices, and the advertising features available to the app.


6. App Tracking Transparency and IDFA

On Apple devices, Freeplex uses Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework when tracking permission is required.

Before information is used for tracking across other companies' apps or websites, Freeplex may display Apple's system tracking permission request.

Apple controls this permission.

You may choose:

- Allow Tracking
- Ask App Not to Track

If you allow tracking, Google Mobile Ads may use Apple's advertising identifier, known as the IDFA, and other permitted information for purposes such as personalized advertising and advertising measurement, subject to your other privacy and consent choices.

If you select "Ask App Not to Track," tracking authorization is denied.

Freeplex remains fully usable if you deny tracking permission.

Advertisements may continue to be displayed when tracking permission is denied. In that situation, Google Mobile Ads does not receive the IDFA from Freeplex for IDFA-based tracking, and advertising may be non-personalized or otherwise limited according to Google's policies and applicable law.

Freeplex does not attempt to bypass Apple's tracking permission or fabricate an advertising identifier.


7. European Privacy Consent

For users in regions where additional advertising consent requirements apply, including certain users in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Switzerland, Freeplex may use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP).

UMP may present privacy choices relating to advertising, device information, and data processing.

Where required, the UMP consent process is completed before applicable tracking-enabled advertising begins.

Google UMP consent and Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission are separate privacy controls.

A UMP choice does not override your Apple ATT choice.

If privacy options are required by UMP, Freeplex may provide a Privacy Options entry in Settings so you can review or update your choices.

Freeplex does not intentionally reset your consent choice every time the app launches.


8. Personalized and Non-Personalized Advertising

Where both applicable advertising consent and Apple tracking authorization permit it, advertising may be personalized.

Personalized advertising may use permitted identifiers and information to select or measure ads that may be more relevant to you.

If tracking permission or applicable consent is not granted, Freeplex may continue to request non-personalized advertising.

Non-personalized advertising may still use limited technical information for purposes such as:

- Ad delivery
- Fraud prevention
- Security
- Frequency management
- Reporting
- Measurement permitted by applicable law and platform rules

Declining personalized advertising does not prevent you from using the main features of Freeplex.


9. Firebase Remote Config

Freeplex uses Firebase Remote Config to remotely manage certain app configuration values.

For example, Remote Config may be used to control advertising frequency settings without requiring a new App Store version for every configuration change.

Remote Config does not store your favourites, watchlist, movie choices, or search history as part of this feature.

Freeplex currently does not use Firebase Analytics for user-behavior tracking.

Firebase and Google may process technical information necessary to provide the Remote Config service according to Google's own privacy practices.


10. Advertising Frequency

Freeplex may locally count certain in-app actions to determine when an advertisement becomes eligible to appear.

These counters are used to manage the advertising experience and reduce excessive interruptions.

The count is stored locally on the device.

Freeplex does not send each individual tap or action to Firebase Analytics for this advertising-frequency feature.


11. Push Notifications

If you enable notifications and grant permission through iOS, Apple may provide Freeplex with an Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) device token.

If a notification backend is configured for the app, Freeplex may send the APNs token and relevant notification preferences to that backend so that requested notifications can be delivered.

Notification preferences may include choices such as:

- New movie alerts
- Trailer notifications
- App updates
- Other enabled notification categories

You can disable notification permissions at any time through iOS Settings.


12. Network and Technical Information

When Freeplex connects to online services, normal internet communications may expose technical information to those services.

This may include:

- IP address
- Device type
- Operating system information
- App version
- Language or region
- Request timestamps
- Technical request information

Third-party services process this information according to their own policies.


13. Third-Party Services

Freeplex may interact with the following service providers:

- The Movie Database (TMDB), for movie and television catalog information
- Google Mobile Ads, for advertising and advertising-related services
- Google User Messaging Platform, for applicable privacy and consent management
- Firebase Remote Config, for remote app configuration
- Apple, for App Store services, device permissions, App Tracking Transparency, and push-notification infrastructure
- YouTube / Google, when you choose to open trailers or related video content
- A configured notification backend, if one is enabled for push notification delivery

These third parties may process information independently according to their own privacy policies and legal obligations.


14. Sharing of Information

We do not sell your personal information.

Information may be shared or processed by third-party service providers only as necessary to provide features used by Freeplex, including movie information, advertising, privacy management, notifications, security, fraud prevention, and technical services.

Where tracking for advertising purposes occurs, it is subject to Apple's App Tracking Transparency permission and other applicable consent requirements.


15. Advertising Measurement

Advertising providers may measure advertisement performance, such as whether an advertisement was displayed, interacted with, or resulted in certain advertising outcomes.

Where Apple's ATT permission is required for tracking-based measurement, Freeplex requests the applicable permission before allowing that tracking.

Apple and advertising providers may also provide privacy-preserving measurement technologies that do not require access to the IDFA.


16. Data Retention

Information stored locally by Freeplex generally remains on your device until:

- You remove the relevant item
- You reset applicable app settings
- The app removes the information as part of normal operation
- You delete Freeplex from your device

Third-party services such as Google, Apple, TMDB, or YouTube may retain information according to their own retention policies.

We do not control third-party retention periods.


17. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on your device and location, you may have several privacy controls.

You can:

- Allow or deny Apple App Tracking Transparency permission
- Change tracking permissions through iOS Settings where Apple allows it
- Accept or reject applicable Google advertising consent choices
- Review Privacy Options inside Freeplex when required
- Disable notifications through iOS Settings
- Remove locally saved movies or preferences
- Delete Freeplex to remove local app data under normal iOS behavior

Denying tracking permission does not prevent you from using Freeplex's main movie and TV discovery features.


18. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on your country or region, you may have legal rights concerning your personal information.

These rights may include the right to:

- Request access to personal information
- Request correction
- Request deletion
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
- Lodge a complaint with a relevant data protection authority

Because many Freeplex preferences are stored locally, deleting information within the app or deleting the app itself may be the simplest way to remove that local information.

19. Children

Freeplex is intended for users aged 13 and older.

Freeplex is not specifically directed to children under 13.

Where local law requires parental or guardian consent at a higher age, users should only use the app with any consent required by applicable law.

20. International Data Processing

Third-party providers used by Freeplex, including Google, Apple, TMDB, and YouTube, may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

Their handling of international data transfers is governed by their own privacy policies, contractual safeguards, and applicable law.


21. Security

We take reasonable steps to limit Freeplex's own collection of personal information and to keep most user preferences on the device.

However, no internet transmission, software system, or storage technology can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Third-party services used by Freeplex are responsible for the security of information processed within their own systems.


22. No User Accounts

Freeplex currently does not require users to create a Freeplex account to use its main movie and television discovery features.

If account-based or server-based features are added in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated to describe any additional information collected and how it is used.


23. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when Freeplex features, advertising systems, third-party services, legal obligations, or privacy practices change.

The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when the policy was most recently revised.

We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
