LOS ANGELES (LALATE) – Tag Eriksson aka Tag Ericsson (Fredrik Eklund) videos and photos dominates the Million Dollar Listing New York season finale. Fredrik Eklund under the names Tag Eriksson and Tag Ericsson appeared in videos years before his real estate career started. Next week in the season finale of Million Dollar Listing New York, Ryan Serhant plays one of Fredrik Eklund’s videos for fellow brokers.
The entire Tag Eriksson, Tag Ericsson (photos below) angle about Fredrik Eklund has been known by MDLNY producers and Bravo far before the show started its first season. In fact, when the 2012 season debuted, LALATE reported that Bravo had hired Eklund following his experience in more than six films, some shot in California. He would even pick up a 2004 Gay VN Award for one role. But Bravo has a longstanding history of bringing up people’s “pasts” in season finales and manifesting them as bigger revelations than they are. The most notable recent example was the mugshot picture in the Married to Medicine season one finale.
In the years that followed after he left the “video” business and went into real estate, Fredrik was very open about his past. In fact, in 2010, Fredrik Eklund sat down for a news interview with the New York Times. Years earlier, he even published a book detailing his past.
Next week, on the season finale, Ryan is asked by his brother “why are you so upset with Fredrik?” Ryan replies “I’m not obsessed with Fredrik Eklund. I’m obsessed with getting even with Fredrik Eklund.”
Ryan has an open house. And with real estate brokers in attendance, Ryan plays a video. It is believed that the video to be shown in the episode is one of the Tag Eriksson productions. “I thought I show play you a scene from a very special movie”, Ryan tells the brokers. Fredrik says “right away I’m getting a bad feeling in my stomach.” Ryan replies “I am the American dream and you are cheap import.”
The New York Times wrote in 2010 “For Mr. Eklund, the … films offered an escape from the strictures of Old World Sweden. How others might judge him was not a concern. ’Did I ever think it would affect my career negatively?’ he said. ’No. Did I think that I might fall in love with somebody one day who might have a problem with it? Yes.’”
Fredrik eventually published a huge hit book about his life. It was called “Bananflugornas Herre” or “Lord of the Fruit Flies.” The book became a massive sensation because it discussed Fredrik’s coming of age in the Los Angeles “film” industry and other issues in his life. The book detailed his life growing up in a family “with ties to prime ministers, the royal family, even the legendary director Ingmar Bergman” and more.
