The actors are very good, and the story is inspiring. Just a few things I didn't like, such as the episode with the tea house, and a few times they use the Lord's name in vain. But mostly it is a very decent, entertaining family show.

This series is way too often underrated, and overlooked. Sort of like Twin Peaks, it had a short airing season, but over the years, has acquired quite a large cult following. Unlike Twin Peaks, however, it did not have the same success in reviving the show: if you fall in love with this series, please do not watch the 3 mini-movies made in 2000. Unfortunately, they only brought back one of the original main actors, and it's just horribly written and acted. But anyways, this is about the tv show, and it's a WONDERFUL show. In todays world, it actually might have done much better had it been given the chance to premiere on a Netflix or Hallmark channel. However, in the early 90s, there was not that choice. It premiered on ABC, and lasted two seasons. The fact that it was an hour-long show did not sit well with viewers, and it didn't help that it was a Christian-oriented show. That just CAN'T be shown on a major network... Anyways, it is important to mention that while the show is Christian-oriented, it's really not Bible-thumping, in-your-face about it. It asks honest questions about faith that anyone might ask. It's interesting to watch the show deal with God and social issues--poverty, race...I think maybe the neatest thing is watching the show's two main male characters, Dr. MacNeill (a man of science), and Reverend Grantland (a man of the church), have their quarrels. It's really quite relevant for today's world, though it is set in 1912. Like I said, I think we all would be a lot happier if this show had the chance on Netflix or the Hallmark Channel, and it probably would have gone on for more than two seasons. For now, we'll just have to bask in the gloriousness of these two seasons--it's wonderfully written, thought-provoking, has great actors that fit the characters to a tee, and beautiful music.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed this.... BUT... and this is a big but - the story is interrupted. The series lasted two years and, presumably, was to continue on. Ending the show left the story incomplete. To see the full story, you need three more DVDs: 'Return to Cutter Gap', 'Change of Seasons', and 'A New Beginning'. Unfortunately, several of the actors are different in the final three episodes, but the story continues well. In the main series, the heroine is a young Hallie Martin and she was a delight to watch.

So much could be written about this series, it would become an epic of its own. This is one of the greatest, family friendly, yet timeless stories on DVD one could purchase. Many great moral lessons are brought out about our American past. Teachers love this for a reason. As an educator I always suggest the book to be read first, as film is based on a true story; but book is the "real thing" and not represented fully by shortened media. A must for any film library!

That old time feeling of a simpler time. DVD's worked great and I was on a marathon watching weekend. Christy reminds me the way life was back before technology took over the world, Beautifully told stories with underline lessons in morality, without hitting you over the head. The softness of Christy set against the harsh world and the battles she faces is heartwarming. I am so glad they re made this series in DVD form. It was one of my favorite series growing up as a child. I still have many more episodes to watch but it is just as wonderful as I remember. It is filled with great Christian values as well as real life issues. Definitely a time piece. Wonderful!

I am a rough, old, retired Army master sergeant and I know it's out of character, but have always loved the Christy series. I bought this so I could watch it any time I wanted. It arrived quickly and was in perfect condition. I spent four days watching it all over again.

Compelling watching.
Not as good as the book, but I don't know of any film that matches the book! I couldn't play this on my TV because it is from the States,but successfully played it on my laptop. If you like Anne of Green Gables you are sure to like this too.
Touching stories for a family of those seeking to be and do good in a community and of some of their challenges.

So romantic!!!!
This is just such a wonderful series!! It's definitely up there with Anne of Green Gables. You can't help but fall in love with Cutter Gap and wish that you were there yourself! And the Christy/Dr. McNeil love story is just so amazingly romantic! However I must warn people that this series ends in a major cliffhanger and there is unfortunately no season 2 as it was cancelled (apalling!). I was certainly left with a horrible empty feeling and seriously considering whether my health would have been better had I just never watched it to begin with! But no, it's still a wonderful series and a lot better than the movies as the girl who plays Christy in the series is The Christy!!!!
