As 'sexually fluid' Ruby Rose prepares to take on the groundbreaking role of an openly lesbian Batwoman in The Flash, Supergirl and Arrow for the CW, unearthed sex scenes between her and Christina Ricci have reemerged.
The scenes - from 2013's Around The Block - see the Hollywood starlets in a semi-naked clinch, portraying a student and teacher embarking on a forbidden relationship.
Playing the role of Hannah, Ruby - now 32, 27 at the time - was tasked with being the 'dominant' of the pair and said at the time she was blindsided by the fact that she'd be acting opposite Christina, who is six years older than her and a Hollywood veteran in comparison.

She said at the time: 'Around the Block is a film that is about Redfern 10 years ago, when the government was trying to take away the land that belonged to the indigenous people.
'No one knew what my role was but then the trailer came out and there is the sex scene so everyone is like, "Oh my god, you're naked, having sex with Christina Ricci!"
'I thought it would be awkward and I was not looking forward to it - you know, being alongside Christina Ricci, who has been a famous actress since she was born, pretty much.
'I remember her as Wednesday in The Addams Family and [in] Casper. So I was sort of spun out on the idea of having to be this dominating person in a role with her, but she is a pro.'

Ruby said that her Batwoman role was a 'childhood dream' come true when she first landed the part, having risen to fame on series such as Orange Is The New Black.
She has since gone on to appear in blockbuster movies, such as the John Wick franchise with Keanu Reeves and this summer's shark thriller The Meg.
On landing the superhero role, Ruby shared a video on her Instagram account in which she discusses her 'queer' icons and the impact they had on her as a young woman.
'Growing up there wasn't as many gay, queer, lesbian icons are there are today,' Ruby begins in the video. 'And I'm so glad there are so many more.
' Angelina Jolie came out as bisexual. That was a great one, I was so stoked!'

Ruby jokingly said that if Angelina, 43, was a penguin, she would identify as a penguin just to marry her: 'She could be a penguin and I'd be like, "Gay. I am a gay penguin now.'''
In the video, Ruby also candidly discussed the moment in which Angelina accepted the award for 'most beautiful human being on the planet'.
When Angelina was asked what she thought about the fact that most of her votes came from female fans, she casually told a crowd full of reporters and celebrities 'she was most likely to sleep with female fans'.
Ruby referred to the casual manner in which Angelina said those words and cited them as a catalyst for her own self appreciation.

She also mentioned TV host Ellen DeGeneres, 60, as a comedic inspiration, and rounded out her praise with a hope for the future, saying that while society may not change right away, it has come a long way since it was when she was a child.
'I don't think [stigma] is going to be erased entirely in the next five years, 10 years or 20 years. I think we're on the right path and I think it's amazing and I feel blessed because I haven't been through what the people before me went through, and I know the people after me will say the same thing.
It's just going to keep being a work in progress.'

Since Ruby's casting as Batwoman was revealed, she has received mixed reviews from the public.
Where some are commending David Rapaport on an ideal casting, others have come to criticise and insult the Aussie star. Ruby has used the astronomical publicity to remind her fans of the magnitude of a superhero being openly queer, and played by a queer public figure.
'The Bat is out of the bag and I am beyond thrilled and honoured. I'm also an emotional wreck... because this is a childhood dream,' Ruby recently wrote in an Instagram post.
'This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different.'

RUBY Rose is set to light up the small screen as the first openly lesbian superhero lead character in a live-action superhero show.
However it is not the first time Ruby has represented the LGBTQ+ community on screen.
Back in 2013, the star (who has also had roles on Netflix hit show Orange is the New Black and big screen action flicks Resident Evil and xXx) featured in an Australian drama called Around the Block.
The film starred 38-year-old American star Christina Ricci as a caring drama teacher.
Ruby featured as a character named Hannah – with the two ladies embarking on a passionate affair together.
"Around the Block is a film that is about Redfern 10 years ago, when the government was trying to take away the land that belonged to the indigenous people,” Ruby explained of her role back in 2013.
"No one knew what my role was but then the trailer came out and there is the sex scene so everyone is like, 'Oh my god, you're naked, having sex with Christina Ricci',” she said.
"I thought it would be awkward and I was not looking forward to it - you know, being alongside Christina Ricci, who has been a famous actress since she was born, pretty much,” she revealed.

Meanwhile, Ruby – who identifies as sexually fluid – says playing a lesbian superhero on TV will be one of her most exciting challenges.
“This is a childhood dream,” the Australian actor said after it was announced she will play Batwoman on the CW.
“This is something I would have died to have seen on TV when I was a young member of the LGBT community who never felt represented on tv and felt alone and different,” she continued.
“Thank you everyone. Thank you god,” she added on Instagram.
