Pastor Chris Oyakhilome was a child of faith, who was raised in a loving family and supported by his parents. He was the oldest of four children born to the elder T.E Oyakhilome, one of the early pioneers of the Assemblies of God Church in Benin City, and Angelina who is the matriarch of the Oyakhilome family, who imprinted her divine grace upon her son at an early age.

Pastor Chris has two daughters, Carissa Sharon and Charlene. Pastor Chris Oyakhilome attended Edo College before winning a scholarship to pursue a degree in architecture at Bendel State University, known now as Ambrose Ali University, where he obtained an BSc in Architecture. He also received an honorary Doctor of Science award. He also has an honorary doctorate of divinity from Benson Idahosa University. Ambrose Ali University was the location where he was able to feel God called him to be a minister to the Lord.

The Man of God created what would eventually become one of the largest churches in the world when the man was still in school at a university. It began with an unassuming prayer group known as "Youth for Christ," which eventually evolved into one of the most well-known organization of its kind on campus and would serve as the foundation of the future Christ Embassy and LoveWorld Incorporated with millions of followers around the world.
Under the direction of Pastor Chris, the LoveWorld ministry became a pioneer in satellite TV and Christian programming and production. Oyakhilome LoveWorldSAT is the first Christian TV station that broadcasts from Africa 24/7 a day, on air-free networks. There are currently LoveWorld television stations available across satellite and cable networks throughout the world.
Christ Embassy has strong presence in Pastor Chris's homeland of Nigeria, South Africa and Canada. The church has two healing schools, which are based in South Africa.
