Is Chloe a lesbian, bi, or straight?

ok it's been pinging in my mind since episode 3 when Chloe got so upset finding out about Rachel and Frank. The kiss I don't think is a big deal but she does joke about Warren not having a chance. Now when she finds her body she declears that she can't be dead becouse she loved her so much it could be greif over a friend but I think there is more there anyone aggree? anyone disaggree? show your evidence

She's a user; she'd probably do whatever was convenient.

I don't get why the LiS community constantly goes on and on about shipping Max and Chloe and are they bi or lesbian? That is NOT what the story is about and that won't be part of it, so get over it.

Chloe is likely bi as shes stated she had a " boy toy phase "

,,Show your Evidence" lol, sounds somehow wrong. I think Chloe never really made up her mind about who she likes romantically. Means she is still on the run for Answers about that. Also i agree with Jeckenn. Its not part of the Plot, it never was.

Chloe almost definitely had a crush on Rachel, it seems like it was more one-sided than a relationship. However in episode 3 if you look through Chloe's jacket you will find condoms, and in episode 1 it is stated that Nathan picked her up at a bar and if he didn't drug her they probably would have hooked up. I think Chloe might be bisexual, but homoromantic.

Chloe is definitely attracted to women, Rachel probably just helped her realize that. Whether Chloe is lesbian, bisexual or defines herself otherwise is unknown. For example, she has dated boys and carries condoms in her wallet, so it's possible that she's bisexual, however it's also possible that she was unsure of herself at that point (BtS makes it clear that she wasn't really attracted to Eliot).
P.S. A person can say another person is hot without actually being attracted to them.
Im not totally sure about her attraction to Eliot...it seems like he's more of a sympathy hookup or a one time thing to just try and cope with the emotions of having the two most important people in your life leave at the same time. Thats just my interpretation tho, I dont think she was ever that into him her thing for rachel is much stronger
She definitely prefers girls; I get the impression guys are like two-days old donuts for her, where she’ll take them if they’re there but the enthusiasm isn’t quite as high.
When you're gay in a small, dead-end town, sometimes you'll take whatever you can get. Two-day old donuts is right!
Care to share how you come to that conclusion?
Edit: Dear Downvoters: What's the issue here?
The title, can be misinterpreted and may be "homophobic" perhaps? I don't mean it with bad intentions. When I read it I thought: hmm I hope there is an explanation inside for what the title suggests.
It could be that Chloe up to meet Rachel was confused with her sexuality (bi?), hence what you comment on the journal and about Eliot. If we rely only on BTS, I could say that at the beginning we could talk about a bisexual adolescent who is discovering herself and discovering her own sexuality. I think the attraction she feel for Rachel helps her discover her own orientation.
On the other hand, what you mention about Jeff, I see it more as something to make Max jealous, a kind of flirting towards her, at least it's my impression, at times I get the feeling that Chloe is trying to make Max jealous. Lovely :P. As has been said, you can say things like that without feeling attraction. You never said that someone is cute of your same sex without feeling attracted? Well, it's the same.
Finally what is she? As the game focuses, she is a lesbian at the end. Start as a teenager discovering their sexuality on the road and I think that already in the adult version (lis1), it has more clearly said orientation.
Oh come on! I will never forget at the pool scene as Chloe turns shamelessly to not look directly at Max while she takes off her clothes!
PS: I don't think that her confusions or doubts in BTS on the subject of sexuality influence her problems directly. What's more, by focusing Rachel on the romantic path, she is more than determined to be serious about it. So no, I don't think it affects those doubts or confusions.

I deliberately phrased it as a question... Anyway.
You may or may not have guessed that this is yet another thinly veiled attack on Pricefielders anywhere by yours truly when I suggest that Chloe is not really itno girls but merely into Rachel. Now, you mention the pool scene, the most obvious interpretation of which is that choosing the girls' dressing room is letting Chloe know that Max is into girls and vice versa, with Chloe being more enthusiastic when the girls' room is chosen. That is certainly true. True is also that nothing of any sort is going on between the two in the pool while Chloe mentions that she wishes Rachel was there. Wouldn't you expect a move to be made at such an occassion? Furthermore, I still wouldn't just dismiss Chloe's reaction to Jefferson at a point at which she knows nothing about him as merely teasing. At the very least, it puts her being an all-out lesbian into question. And Chloe is not exactly shy about any of her other characteristics.
What makes me further question her homosexuality in later stages of the game is the fact that it's simply not adressed. In BtS it is a major theme of the game and the narrative, in LiS, it's barely even present. That may be due to the nature of video games themselves (we all know that Dontnod fought long and hard to even get a female playable character, I don't even want to know what lengths they would have had to go to to get a lesbian one) but considering that BtS pulled it off successfully but two years later, I'd say the emphasis on such a major part of a person's life (and a primary character's at that) could have been more pronounced if it were controversial.
Long story short: I don't know for sure but if I had to guess I'd say I don't think she's homosexual.
Sorry for the massive paragraph but I feel very strongly about this lol
As a lesbian who has played both games multiple times, my own personal interpretation of Chloe's character is that she is a lesbian. Many lesbians and other gay people experience compulsory heterosexuality (the expectation and societal pressure of being attracted and being with the opposite sex) I see a lot of my own struggle with that in Chloe. Much of her 'attraction' to men is either joking (my interpretation of the Jefferson 'flirting' was that it was deliberately to tease Max), or forced in the case of Eliot.
Growing up in a hick town like Arcadia Bay probably didn't help with this because what many openly same sex attracted people are there for her to look up to or guide her?
Her repeated 'men are gross/boys suck/ etc.' make it pretty clear cut for me that she's not interested in men at all by the time of the main LIS, perhaps even by BTS to be honest, and carrying around condoms doesn't negate that in my mind if she did have a previous 'phase' of experimenting (and if you notice she NEVER regards this phase positively or any experience with men in her past positively either). And is it all that surprising if your whole life your told to hook up with guys, and all your friends are doing it too?(although I personally didn't fall under this pressure but that's because unlike Chloe I had a supportive friendship group).
Chloe was already experiencing a sexual awakening before the happenings of BTS and in my opinion Rachel only secured that for her and by LIS latest she's a complete lesbian confident in her sexuality.
This could easily add to her depression as being a minority in such a town like Arcadia Bay would make you feel marginalised. But this is compounded on top of her abandonment issues, mental health issues and the death of William, which I think are the biggest cause of her depression.
I don't think sexuality has anything to do with it. From what I've seen, my guess is that it comes from 3 big things:
And a shitty situation at home (With David)
I just think that Elliot exploited Chloe's vulnerability. Also, at 14 years old, the age of Chloe when she probably met Elliot, love is usually very stupid and pointless. In her diary there is nothing describing why she kinda liked him. Think of Elliot as the only "close" person for a troubled teenager. Poor Chloe, at least she realized a bit that sometimes you are better off alone than badly accompanied.
Elliot character notes from Chloe's journal: "...I get the sense that he's mostly a lone wolf." "We hooked up a few times shortly after Dad died, but there wasn't really much to it. I think I was just bored. Or maybe a little lonely. Weird, I know." "I can't tell if he actually wants to be friends or just get in my pants."
It may seem that Chloe admires Steph also in the way she's open and confident about her sexuality. In Chloe's journal, the character notes of Steph say "I can never decide if Steph is the coolest or nerdiest person in all of Blackwell." & "Another thing about Steph: she's into girls, and she doesn't give a shit what anyone else thinks about it."
Edit: just adding some dots and enters
Good point about Steph's character sheet! It does sounds like she admires Step's nonchalance, doesn't it?
So I never had the impression Chloe, of all the characters in the story, is insecure at all about her sexuality. The game doesn’t really address it,I just always felt like Chloe is just a “goes with the feeling” kinda person, doesn’t matter what gender.
I also feel like if she was more insecure the player in BtS would be way more clued in, I mean we hear her thoughts the whole game, and I cant remember anything that suggests shes dealing with insecurity, more like relationship anxiety pertaining to Rachel at FIRST, and then thats it.
Good point. I mentioned something similar further down - Chloe is not exactly hesitant about her other characteristics, why would she be about her sexuality? And if she is not actively concerned about it, how can we assume that she's made up her mind?
I'm sure her attraction to women is part of her issues with David, at least.
seems to be someone very much attracted to girls romantically but can recognise the beauty of men and would fuck now and then. probably like a kinsey 5.9 or whatever
doesn't seem like a bad way to be tbh
She's attracted to women, but I also think she's attracted to men too. I think she genuinely found Mark attractive (sadly enough) so I think she is bisexual and homoromantic.
I don’t think the game ever made it seem that she was in denial, embarrassed, or confused about her sexuality. She casually mentioned mastutbating to a woman in her journal (written to Max). The game also never mocks her for being bisexual/pansexual. IMO I don’t think she is struggling with her sexuality at all. I think when she meets Rachel she is star-struck. She is attracted to her because she is pretty and charming, but she develops feelings for her because she makes her happy (happiest she’s been since her dad died).
