️Chinese scientists have created the world's first 20-GW microwave weapon, capable of generating pulses for a minute.

According to the South China Morning Post, this compact ground-based system is capable of disrupting or damaging satellites in low-Earth orbit, including Starlink satellites. The publication reports that the device, called TPG1000Cs, was developed at the Northwest Institute of Nuclear Technology in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province.

This device is four meters long and weighs five tons, allowing it to be mounted on trucks, warships, aircraft, and even satellites. Previously, similar systems could operate continuously for no more than three seconds and were much more cumbersome, the newspaper notes. The TPG1000Cs is capable of generating up to 3,000 high-energy pulses in a single session – significantly outperforming similar systems currently available.

If China eventually deploys the TPG1000C in space, "its stealth strikes will become even more lethal and harder to detect," notes the publication.
