COVINGTON COUNTY, Ala. (WSFA) - A Red Level man is behind bars in connection to a child pornography investigation.
Jessy Folmar was arrested by the Covington County Sheriff’s Office Thursday. He is charged with 12 counts of possession of obscene material and two counts of dissemination of obscene matter.
Folmar was booked into the Covington County Jail on $560,000 bail, according to the sheriff’s office.
Covington County Sheriff Blake Turman said the investigation started with a tip from the Alabama Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. He said a consented search of several electronic devices revealed “hundreds if not a thousand images of obscene material that involving children.”
“Our children are under attack. Protect your kids. As a parent, you have the authority not only to raise your child but protect them. If you are leery of anything of this nature, call law enforcement,” Turman said in a news release.
correction: The suspect's name was previously reported to be Jerry Folmar. The Covington Co. Sheriff's Office released a correction. His name has since been updated to Jessy Folmar.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD/Gray News) - An Arizona man is facing several charges after authorities reportedly found a significant collection of child porn.
KOLD reports 37-year-old Merlin Harrigan was indicted on Sept. 14 by a Pinal County Grand Jury on 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
On Sunday, authorities said Harrigan was arrested at the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
The Casa Grande Police Department said it previously served a search warrant at Harrigan’s home stemming from a theft investigation.
Once investigators entered the home, they found children’s clothing, sex toys and a child sex doll, according to authorities. The police department said it also seized guns, drugs and electronic devices from the home.
During a forensic analysis of Harrigan’s devices, police said they found approximately 151,500 images and videos portraying child sexual abuse.
Harrigan is being held on a $250,000 bond, with his next court hearing currently scheduled for Friday.
