BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — An attorney who worked on the staff of Gov. Kay Ivey pleaded guilty to a child pornography charge and faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, federal prosecutors said Tuesday.
Chase Tristian Espy, 36, pleaded guilty to possessing child pornography, authorities said in a statement, and a judge scheduled a sentencing hearing for Jan. 24.
Espy, of Vestavia Hills, previously worked as deputy general counsel in the office of Ivey. He was only employed there a few months and was fired at the time of his arrest last August, officials said at the time.
Investigators seized Espy's cellphone after he engaged in online chats with an investigator he believed to be a 15-year-old girl, authorities said in a statement. A search found multiple videos and several images portraying child sexual abuse, authorities said.

AMMON — A 22-year-old Ammon man has been charged with multiple felonies after he allegedly looked at child pornography while at work.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, on June 27, a detective was given a case regarding a suspect named Jaxsen Hall, who was caught with images of child sexual abuse on his computer.
The images were found at a local business in Idaho Falls, according to documents. Hall had logged into his Google drive account on June 14 at work and left it open, documents said. A manager at the business found it and reported it to the police.
Hall’s computer was seized by officers, and more images were found.
A deputy with Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office also searched Hall’s tablet and found sexually explicit videos involving children as young as five years old. Some of the videos show adults sexually assaulting children.
According to documents, there were dozens of videos and thousands of images on Hall’s devices.
The Idaho Falls Police Department interviewed Hall, and he said that the images were uploaded from his home in Ammon. Hall admitted to an officer that he had these images on his devices.
Hall was arrested and charged with five felonies for possession of child sexually exploitative material.
He was given a $25,000 bond but has since posted bail. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. at the Bonneville County courthouse.

Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson Swati Maliwal on Tuesday summoned Twitter India Policy Head and Delhi Police over tweets on the platform depicting child pornography and rape videos of women and children.

The DCW took suo moto cognizance of several tweets on the social media platform which are openly posting videos and photographs of sexual acts which involve children. While most tweets have photographs of children completely naked, many also depicted brutal rape and other types of non-consensual sexual activities involving children and women, the commission said.

The DCW issued summons to Delhi Police seeking an FIR in the matter. It has also recommended that the children and women visible in the videos be identified and helped.

"Shockingly, some of these videos even depicted rape with children and women while they were asleep! Some of the Twitter accounts engaging in these criminal acts appear to be running a racket wherein they seek money for providing pornographic and rape videos of children from other users of the social media platform," DCW said in a press briefing.

A list of such tweets has been shared by the Commission with Twitter and Delhi Police.

"I am shocked with the kind of rape and child pornographic videos available freely on Twitter. The nauseating material needs to be immediately removed from Twitter and FIR should be registered by Delhi Police in the matter. Systems must be developed so that all such videos are immediately deleted and the perpetrators reported to the law enforcement agencies. Twitter must be held accountable for this filthy and objectionable content being available and even sold on its platform," said DCW chief Swati Maliwal.

DCW has sought reasons from Twitter as to why these tweets were neither reported nor deleted. It has also asked for data on how many such tweets are currently available on the platform. Twitter has been asked for data on how many such tweets it identified, deleted and reported in the last 4 years and SOPs related to action against such content on the platform.
