Child And Adolescent Psychiatrist

Child And Adolescent Psychiatrist

Are you looking for a child and adolescent psychiatrist? Mental problems are not reserved for adults only. Children and adolescents get impacted equally. Because of their youth, it is more pressing and harder for children to deal with this on their own. This is why it is really important to have good psychiatric care available for them.

Whether your child is dealing with autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, suicidal tendencies, dealing with rape trauma they need psychiatric help to deal with it. You should get them this help as soon as possible.

There are two types of psychiatric care. One is in-patient care and the other is out-patient care. In-patient care is usually offered when there is something serious. The child is usually sent to an in-patient program for treatment from another facility like an emergency room. The in-patient program is not a long-term treatment for the child. They only focus on addressing serious concerns. You cannot expect your child to be fully better upon being released from the in-patient program. The in-patient program will make about 15-20% improvement.

Once released from the in-patient program the child will need further treatment either from the out-patient facility or will need to find another psychiatrist to help them with long-term care.

You can get help from the outpatient treatment center of the psychiatric facility even if your child did not have to go through the in-patient program. These are two separate programs with two different intentions.

When you want to find good psychiatric care for your child, start by asking your family doctor for a referral. Your family doctor is aware of your child’s medical history. They will be able to recommend a good psychiatric facility for your child.

You can even reach out to your insurance company and ask them for a list of psychiatric centers that accept the insurance.
