Chicago and Nashville Face Off in Epic 'Battle of the Cities' Charity Event

Chicago, IL – June 10, 2024

In a first-of-its-kind showdown, Chicago and Nashville are set to compete in a friendly but fierce 'Battle of the Cities' charity event this weekend, pitting their iconic cultures, sports teams, and musical talents against each other for a good cause.

The event, organized by a coalition of business leaders and entertainers from both cities, will feature a series of challenges, including:

A BBQ vs. Deep-Dish Pizza Cook-Off – Nashville’s famous hot chicken and smoky ribs will go head-to-head with Chicago’s legendary deep-dish pizza and Italian beef sandwiches, judged by a panel of celebrity food critics.

Music Showdown – Country stars from Nashville will perform alongside Chicago’s blues and jazz legends in a concert at Soldier Field, with proceeds benefiting music education programs in both cities.

Sports Clash – While the Blackhawks and Predators aren’t scheduled to meet on the ice this season, an exhibition hockey game featuring alumni players will settle bragging rights—at least until next year.

Dance Battle – Chicago’s footwork dancers will challenge Nashville’s line dancers in a viral-worthy dance-off.

Mayors Brandon Johnson (Chicago) and Freddie O’Connell (Nashville) have engaged in playful trash talk ahead of the event.

'Nashville might have the tunes, but Chicago’s got the soul, the sports legacy, and the best food in America,' said Mayor Johnson.

Mayor O’Connell fired back: 'We’ll let the world decide—but something tells me they’ll be saying ‘yeehaw’ by the end of the night.'

The event will be livestreamed, with fans encouraged to donate to the winning city’s chosen charities. Whether it’s deep dish or hot chicken, blues or country, one thing is certain—this rivalry is all in good fun.
