Link can also howl near the patches to summon a similar animal.

Like earlier Zelda games, music plays a large part in Twilight Princess. Link can play instruments that are musical, such as the flute or harp, to draw and summon different animals. Link can also use his voice to command the wolf's form. Additionally, he can use his compass to guide him around the world and stay out of trouble.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of vibrant and unique characters that will leave an unforgettable impression. These quirky and creative personalities that emerge from toilets to pirates soaring across vast oceans are the heart of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of the previous games, introducing numerous memorable characters.

In the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs who are not just fascinating, but also credible. It's an important improvement that so many of these NPCs don't exist solely as victims, but actually play a role in the story. Other notable characters are Iza who runs the Boat Rental Cabin in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who assists Wolf Link find a secret access point to the castle through her bar and sewer system, and Faron his spirit is the one who guides Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The two team members defeat the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and gains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most captivating characters in the game. She can switch between her human and wolf forms and is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom. She accosts Link and tells him about her experience in the twilight and how she defeated Zant the King of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer who rules the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second half of the Triforce of Wisdom. The goddesses relegated him to the Twilight Realm for enslaving their people and taking over their land. Midna can dispel Zant's power allowing him to change into his human form if required.

The game also includes an upgraded horse named Epona that can be riding in Hylian and wolf forms. Link can whistle at grass patches to call the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). The player can name the horse which makes Twilight Princess the first time in the series that the player can personalize their own horse.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to stop Hyrule from being sucked into the corrupted parallel dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To achieve this, Link assumes the appearance of a Hylian and the form of a Wolf and is assisted by a woman named Midna.

Midna is the original ruler of the Twili However, she was usurped by Zant and cursed to her imp form. The Sages of the past inform Link and Midna that only the defeat of Ganondorf will be the key to their release from their curse. The Sages reveal that the Mirror of Twilight causes the darkness to exist in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link journey to the Spirit's Spring where they encounter hostile creatures that kidnap kids. With Wolf Link's sharp sense of smell, they track the kids' scent to a bridge, and then cross into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple and battle Diababa and win the first Fused Shadow. Following this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery stone and uses her powers on the ice below Lake Hylia. Rutela's spirit, who was the recently gone Zora queen appears to Link and tells him that he needs to visit the Lakebed Temple if he wants to gain access to the treasures of Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona is able to be riding in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, in contrast to the predetermined names used in previous games.

Midna and Link can retrieve the remaining Mirror Shards once they arrive in the Twilight Realm. The Sages reveal to Midna that she is the true ruler of the Twili.
