The cons: Polycarbonate devices often come with many pieces and can be frustrating to put together at first. They develop a strong odor if not cleaned properly. Polycarbonate devices can cause the wearer discomfort or even be the source of skin irritation issues. The smaller pieces, as well as the back ring, can get lost or break. Slipping out or pulling out of the device can be a recurring issue.

The cons: Stainless steel devices are the least discreet because they will set off metal detectors and, as such, will need a special mention at any TSA checkpoint.
