Characterization Tori Spring

Today I will talk about the Character Victoria “Tori” Annabel Spring. She plays one of the main characters in the graphic novel “Heartstopper” and first appears in chapter 2 as the big sister of Charlie Spring. She also appears in Solitaire, This Winter, Nick and Charlie, Radio Silence, and Party Girls. With that said, let’s talk about her a little bit more.
Victoria goes to the Higgs Harvey Greene Grammar School for Girls and is in year eleven. Tori’s birthday is on April fifth and in the whole duration of the story she ages about 2 years and turns out to be 17 at the end of it. She has a pair of blue eyes and long black hair with a fringe until she suddenly cuts it off to chin length in chapter 5 part 15. Other than that, she has tan skin and is 5’2” tall. Tori looks like to be introverted since we don’t really see here with friends other than Michael in Heartstopper. Victoria also looks like to be alert or/and observant as she is always there when something happens, and this is also portrayed in chapter 5 part 16 with her sitting in front of Charlies door while their mom argued with him. She is also portrayed as cynical and pessimistic. All in all it appears that her mental health isn’t that great and that is also mentioned later in the story with a message that Charlie wrote for her in chapter 6 part 3. The fun fact she wrote on her character profile is that she hates almost everyone, which is probably due to her mental health and her pure nature. That aside, she is overly protective and caring for the people she loves and cares about as shown in chapter 6 part 15 by her kicking the phone out of David’s hand for talking badly about her brother Charlie. As described by Nick in chapter 6 part 9, to outsiders she will probably come off as quiet, intense, uncaring, and not easy to read. Tori has many problems to fight with that aren’t all shown in Heartstopper, but as she slowly opens up and finds true friends to be with, her mental health seems to get better.
In conclusion, she might be quiet and observing, but her pessimistic and cynical side happens to be thoroughly influenced by her mental health. Victoria is a great sister because of her characteristic of being protective and caring, however we can’t forget her “older sister magic” that makes her appear everywhere. With all that I will sum up this characterization.
