Can you claim tax-refund in the US? – The reason why tourists prefer to shop designer bags elsewhere is not only because of the prices, but also the sales tax. Sales tax is the same as VAT in Europe and every State has different sales tax. And here is the irony, you cannot claim ‘Sales Tax’ refund even if you’re just visiting. However, some States do want to attract shoppers like you and me, so they have created special rules. Some States do allow tax-refund and some don’t even impose sales tax. Europe is the bag paradise. A true fashion girl would love to shop Chanel in Paris, which is also the place where the legendary Coco Chanel started her journey. The Chanel Prices in Paris are almost the same as in other places in Europe. But I’m okay even if I have to pay a bit more, because no store can substitute the iconic boutique at the 31 Rue Cambon street. When you get a Bag there, they will seal it inside a white box . In other stores, you get a black box. Maybe it’s not something significant, but who doesn’t want to carry a Chanel Bag that’s made in Paris and sold at the mother of all flagships.

Why is it so hot to buy Chanel in Europe? – That’s all because of the attractive prices. First of all, tourists get tax-refund. And even without the tax-refund, the retail prices are still cheaper than most countries.
So how much tax-refund can you get buying a Chanel Bag? – It’s usually between 10% to 15% and it depends on the country that you’ve made the purchase. Sometimes at the Chanel store in Galeries Lafayette in Paris, you can only get 11%, so do you research before shopping.
Then there’s the cash transaction limitation rule that applies in the EU – If the price is €5000 euro for the Chanel Bag, you won’t be able to pay in cash in Italy. The maximum allowed in cash transfer is €3000 euro, so for the rest of the amount, you have to pay with credit card. Each EU country has their own law and rules. Another reason to shop Chanel in Paris is because of the number of boutiques available there – They have 13 stores that sell bags, SLG, shoes and jewelries. London has 6 locations to shop Chanel – Two of our most favorite stores are Harrods and Selfridges. But do finish your journey at the boutique in the New Bond Street. They have some good stocks there too.
Chanel at Heathrow Airport is the cheapest place to buy in Europe – The little but famous store can be found at Terminal 3, in the tax-free area. They have decent stock including Wallet On Chain but also handbags. When making a purchase, the SA don’t add VAT, thus you don’t need to process tax-refund, which will make the ultimate price much lower.

Tokyo might not be the best place to find bargains, but tourists do get 7.41% tax-refund on all Chanel Bag purchases, which can be cheaper than other Asian countries. The price did go down, but the results of our research were disappointing. The new prices were still expensive compared to countries like Australia, but it was cheaper than Singapore and Japan. Europe was still our favorite destination though, because nothing can beat shopping in the EU.
What I really like about shopping in Seoul and other places in Korea, is the speed of processing your tax-refund. Most popular malls do process the tax-refund for you, it can save you a lot of time and hassle. The airport is also very convenient to claim the tax-refund, actually the process is automated. The prices of the Classic Flap Bag and the Reissue 2.55 Bag are the same. The Classic Flap Bag is more famous and Karl Lagerfeld designed it as a modern version of the Reissue 2.55 Bag in 1984. The Classic Bags went through 3 major stages:
1. Around 2011: Chanel changed the Classic Flap Bag from single to double flap
