CesiumOS v3.0 Beta 1 Release Notes

github.com/CesiumOS-org

Hello folks! I hope you all doing great as it's time for another CesiumOS biggest release ever... Umm ya, it should be because it bumps the Android version to 11. So what all changed?

First, let's talk about something interesting... This is the first CesiumOS release which is based on pure AOSP :D We worked hard to make it as stable and efficient as possible.

So what we offer on top of AOSP?

  • Our build system (Ya isn't really a thing to talk but hey your builds wouldn't be possible without it being stable :D )
  • Redesigned AOSP icons and Settings dashboard :D
  • Added System Updater to support OTA updates (Ya! OTA in Android 11)
  • Disabled some debugging stuff to reduce log spam
  • Added support for in-display fingerprint sensors and optimize it :D
  • Added StaState API for Mediatek (Required for VoLTE to work properly)
  • Added support for overlaying max notification icons
  • Updated some icons to MD2
  • Added support to add/remove QS with one click
  • Updated dark mode colors (Ya! AOSP one's aren't that dark)
  • Lower the internal audio capture restriction
  • Updated switch bar to OOS style bars
  • Significant improvements for app launches
  • Added VoLTE indicator on the status bar
  • Significant improvements to biometrics unlock speeds
  • Removed the overall delay from taking screenshots to switching apps
  • Bring back Face Unlock to Android 11 :D
  • Added ThemePicker to choose between icon shapes to accent
  • Tons of fixes and upstream under the hood

This starts the release cycle of Android 11 builds... Below are the eligible devices for Beta 1:
1) Redmi Note 7 Pro (violet)
2) Redmi Note 5 Pro (whyred)
3) Redmi 7 (onclite)
4) Lenovo Z5S (jd2019)

Builds might start rolling out for the above devices as early as today or next week.

Other official devices that aren't mentioned above will get the update in the coming release cycles.

Thank you for reading! Have a nice day!
