Celestial Radio — Privacy Policy

Celestial Radio (“the App”) is an artistic AR sky-listening experience. This policy explains what data the App uses and what it does not do.

• No account required
• No ads and no third-party tracking SDKs
• Audio is synthesized on your device
• We do not upload your camera feed or listening sessions to our servers (the App has no backend for that)

Camera

The App uses the camera for ARKit world tracking so you can aim at the sky. Camera frames are processed on-device for display and aiming. They are not stored in your photo library by the App and are not sent to us.

Location

When you allow Location While Using, the App uses your approximate/precise position to aim the sky map (for example, so planets appear where they are in the sky from your place on Earth). Location is used only for this on-device calculation. It is not sold and not used for advertising.

NASA open data (optional)

When “NASA open data” is enabled, the App may request public information from NASA services over the internet — including Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), DONKI space-weather notices, NeoWs near-Earth objects, JPL Horizons ephemerides, and the NASA Image Library. These requests use an API key stored in the App and are made to NASA / JPL endpoints. The App does not send your camera frames, precise listening history, or personal profile to NASA. You can turn this off in Settings; the sky catalog and local audio keep working offline.

Audio & files you create

Station sounds are generated locally. If you export a short share clip, the file is written to temporary storage on your device so you can share it through the system share sheet. You control where it goes.

Settings stored on device

Preferences such as listen mode, favorites, and toggles are saved in Apple’s UserDefaults on your device so they persist between launches.

Siri / Shortcuts

Optional App Intents (mute, lock, listen mode) run on your device when you invoke them. We do not receive those invocations on a server.

Children

The App is rated 4+ and does not target children for data collection. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date on this page.
