We’re looking for a fast, engaging Celebrity News Reporter & Host to join our YouTube content team, with a strong focus on Nigerian celebrities, Nollywood, Afrobeats, influencers, entertainers, and Nigerian pop culture.
This role is ideal for someone who genuinely follows Nigerian entertainment and already knows the major personalities, ongoing stories, relationships, controversies, trends, and conversations happening across the Nigerian celebrity space.
What You’ll Do
* Turn researched celebrity news stories into fast-paced, engaging voiceover reports for YouTube.
* Review story briefs provided by our researcher and quickly understand the key facts, context, and angle.
* Write or refine short, compelling narration that gets to the point quickly.
* Record clear, energetic, natural-sounding voiceovers.
* Cover Nigerian celebrity news, entertainment stories, controversies, viral moments, interviews, relationships, social-media drama, Nollywood news, Afrobeats, and other relevant pop-culture stories.
* Keep up with what is currently trending and understand why a particular story is getting attention.
* Deliver multiple voiceovers efficiently without sacrificing accuracy or quality.
* Make stories sound like they're being reported by someone who actually knows the Nigerian entertainment scene, rather than someone simply reading a script.
* Work closely with the researcher and editor to move stories from research → voiceover → finished video quickly.
What We’re Looking For
You should:
* Have strong knowledge of Nigerian celebrity and entertainment news.
* Be familiar with major Nigerian celebrities, actors, musicians, influencers, personalities, and entertainment platforms.
* Have your own microphone or be able to procure one
* Naturally follow Nigerian pop culture and understand the context behind trending stories.
* Have an engaging speaking voice and strong delivery.
* Be able to report a story quickly and confidently.
* Write conversationally and avoid sounding robotic or overly scripted.
* Have excellent attention to detail when it comes to names, dates, quotes, and claims.
* Understand the difference between confirmed information, allegations, rumors, and online speculation.
* Be comfortable working with tight turnaround times.
* Be reliable and able to consistently produce multiple voiceovers per week.
* Have a good instinct for what makes a celebrity story interesting to an audience.
This Role Is NOT For You If...
* You don't actively follow Nigerian entertainment news.
* You need extensive time to understand basic celebrity stories.
* You sound like you're simply reading a script word-for-word.
* You're uncomfortable recording multiple pieces of content in a short period.
* You aren't familiar with the Nigerian entertainment ecosystem.
* You require constant direction to get a story from brief to finished voiceover.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal person is basically someone who can look at a story brief and immediately think:
“I know exactly what this is about, why people care, and how I'd report it.”
You should be fast, informed, expressive, and naturally curious about Nigerian celebrity news.
Experience as a YouTube host, entertainment reporter, radio presenter, podcast host, voiceover artist, TikTok/Instagram creator, or similar is a plus — but deep knowledge of Nigerian entertainment and strong delivery matter more than having a specific job title in your background.
How We’ll Evaluate You
Candidates may be asked to complete a short trial involving a few Nigerian celebrity news stories.
We’ll be looking primarily at:
Speed • Delivery • Accuracy • Storytelling • Knowledge of Nigerian entertainment • Voice quality • Ability to keep viewers interested
If you already spend your free time following Nigerian celebrity news and can turn a story into an engaging report quickly, you’ll probably enjoy this role.
