There was no shortage of amazing nail art in 2019, and if the first week of 2020 has been any indication, we can expect to see lots of inspiring designs this year, too. Already, megastars like Kylie Jenner , Jennifer Lopez , and Margot Robbie (to name a few), have stepped out with manicures worth copying , and award season isn't even in full swing yet. These celebs are lucky enough to work with nail artists like Mei Kawajiri , Mary Soul , and Jenny Bui , all of whom paint and appliqué their claws to perfection on a regular basis. Must be nice.
Due to the wellspring of manicure inspo flooding our feeds what feels like 24/7, we've managed to nail down (see what we did there?) some of our favorites for your viewing pleasure. Whether you love bold, in-your-face designs or prefer to keep it classic and minimal, there's most certainly a style that will strike your fancy. Kylie Jenner has officially ditched her long acrylics during quarantine and is trying out a new look. She snapped this picture of her new colorful French gradient manicure on her natural nails in her Lamborghini (how casual). Jenner shared the photo on her Instagram account , and fans (including us) are loving it.
"Dark cheddar" is what the actor's nail artist Mei Kawajiri dubbed this look, and we can't say we're not obsessed with it. The former Gossip Girl star worked this moody, burnt-orange manicure at the Michael Kors fall 2020 show during New York Fashion Week , and it turned out to be the perfect hint of color to balance out her otherwise all black-and-white look.
This year's Super Bowl was the site of two historic firsts: the first time two Latinx women shared the Half Time Show stage, and the first time a man performed with Swarovski crystal nail art. Bad Bunny's abstract, 3D nail art paired perfectly with the 13,000 crystals sewn onto his outfit and dotted along his cheek bones. It's too soon to crown him a nail art icon, but Bad Bunny is definitely on his way.
The Hustlers actress blessed Instagram with a view of this with this elaborate mani, which she wore on New Year's Eve. This brilliance is the work of her go-to nail artist, Tom Bachik, who adorned her claws with piercings and Versace-inspired artwork. We love this for J.Lo — it's a fun change-up from the typical one-color manicures she tends to wear.
While the 22-year-old makeup mogul seems to have a different manicure every week (thanks to nail artist Chaun P. Legend ), this recent hot pink design, reminiscent of her Kylie Lip Kit packaging, is a definite favorite. Kylie Jenner showed off her neon digits on Instagram with the caption, "French Drip😍💗💗💗✨."
Bella Hadid's yellow-dipped nails are another funky twist on the classic French manicure. You don't need to be a professional nail artist to get this look: Simply coat your nails in sheer or pale ivory polish and then use a stencil or precision tool to paint your tips, whichever color your heart desires.
Nail artist Mei Kawajiri , who works with the likes of Karlie Kloss, Gigi Hadid, and many more, is known for her statement-making designs, and this manicure she did for Justine Skye is no exception. Kawajiri hand-painted this unique, custom design for the singer ahead of Coachella this summer.
Another swoon-worthy style from Jenner, here you have a V-shaped French manicure with ultra-long white tips and a light lavender-pink base. This design is perfect for anyone who loves the classic nail look but wants to spice it up a bit for a change.
RHW recently wore this elegant "reverse Frenchie," as she called it on Instagram , and we still can't stop thinking about it. Rather than just having the tips white, the model's manicurist Betina R. Goldstein lined the entire nail with thin white polish for a modern finish.
