Love is in the air, guys. But not like “love” love. I’m talking about bro love, or bromance, to be exact. There’s nothing sweeter than two guys that just love each other as guys. There’s nothing gay about it and even if there was, there’s nothing wrong with that. We’re just simply stating the difference between bromance and romance between two men. If we’re being honest, a bromance is just two dudes that are best friends. More commonly, you’d see a bromance between two male celebrities who worked on a project together and were inseparable after that, hence the title of this post, celebrity bromance.
A prime example of Hollywood bromance would be Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. When you spend 16 hours a day with somebody over the course of many months, you’d have to become BFF. Bromance is a magical thing and almost everybody would look at these guys and go “aww.” Take a look at these sweet pictures of celebrity bromances and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Celebrity bromances are truly a gift to the world.
Few things are more entertaining than celebrity romances, but celebrity bro mances are right up there, too. There's just something incredibly satisfying about watching two male friends who clearly love each other interact. As society has continued to progress, expressions of platonic male love have become less taboo, and men seem to be becoming more open to displays of affection, whether those be professions of love on late night television, the infamous bro hug or even a platonic smooch on the lips. The bromance has never been more hip, and we decided to collect our favourite fifteen for your perusing pleasure.
Here are 15 celebrity bromances that will have you squealing.
If you were wondering how Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill were able to so effectively portray best friends in the buddy cop movie 21 Jump Street, it's because they weren't really acting. In real life, the two are as close as their characters. If you watch them together in interviews, this becomes obvious pretty quickly in the way they riff off of one another and joke around. Channing Tatum's wife has even discussed her husband's bromance with Jonah Hill, admitting that she often feels like the third wheel when the three hang out together. All we can hope for is that we'll get to see more of them together on the big screens in the future (like, can we please get a 23 Jump Street already?).
Remember when the most exciting thing to come out of the Oval Office was a collection of adorable memes featuring the bromance of Barack Obama and Joe Biden? Those were the days, eh? Since then, things have changed a bit in Washington, but you're probably aware of that and/or attempting to bury your head in the ground like an ostrich so as to avoid hearing anymore cable news. But back in the good ol' days, instead of nuclear scares and Twitter rants, it was the loving gazes exchanged by Joe Biden and President Obama that topped the headlines. Obama even had bromances with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. Basically, the Obama years were a freaking golden age for political bromances. Oh, how far we've fallen.
Sure, it's awesome when two dudes share a platonic love for one another that would make even Romeo and Juliet jealous. But when the two dudes involved are classy British actors who both star in Marvel movies, that's on a whole 'nother plane of awesomeness. And such is the case for Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston. We've seen them in movies together before, but we're particularly excited to see Loki and Doctor Strange interacting in Avengers: Infinity War . Cumberbatch has called Tom one of his best friends, and whenever they appear together in interviews, their regard for one another is pretty obvious. Tom even nominated Benedict for the Ice Bucket Challenge, so that makes him responsible for all that shirtless Cumberbatch action we were treated to. Ah, bless the bromance.
Before True Detective , we sort of knew that Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey were talented. But given that we hadn't really seen too much of either actor in serious roles before this HBO drama, it was kind of hard to tell. Like, they were certainly good at portraying the lead roles in comedies revolving around either zombies or ghostly girlfriends, but outside of these types of movies, we hadn't really had much exposure to either actor. But after the perfection that was True Detective hit television, there was little doubt left in our minds as to how talented these two men are. Or to how freaking adorable their bromance is. These two were good friends, even before their True Detective days, though. Apparently, it was hard for them to overcome their natural rapport in order to play characters that were clearly uneasy around one another.
As two of the most pertinent voices in political comedy, it's no wonder these two were drawn to one another. Before The Late Show and The Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert was pounding the pavement as a correspondent on The Daily Show . It was here he first met Jon Stewart, and over the course of their time together on the show, they developed a strong, lasting friendship. If they have half as good a time together offscreen as they do onscreen, then we are seriously jealous of their bromance. Whether they're doing skits about politics on Stephen's show, presenting awards together at the Emmy's or hiding behind each others' desks, these two are as legendary in the bromance world as they are in comedy.
If onscreen chemistry is evidence of chemistry in real life, then Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson are on fire . They've played besties in quite a few different movies throughout the years, from Zoolander to Night at the Museum to Zoolander 2 . And although they weren't exactly friends in the Meet The Fockers movies, they certainly had a certain degree of chemistry (of the more explosive type). Time and again, these two have proven how perfectly they pair onscreen, and their movie chemistry has influenced their friendship in the real world. Although they may not engage in epic "walk-offs" judged by David Bowie in reality, they are very good friends, just like their Zoolander characters, regularly appearing together at events and clearly enjoying one another's company.
It's easy to love a pair of dudes that love each other, but it's even easier to love said dudes when they play an onscreen bromance on top of loving each other in real life. And such is the case for Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart. Playing Professor Xavier and Magneto in the X-Men series, the two portrayed a pair of men who had been best friends in a previous life, only to fall out and become mortal enemies, just because one wanted to slaughter all non-mutants and the other didn't (it's a pity such trivial matters can drive us apart). But in real life, Ian and Patrick are as close as their characters were before the falling out. If you watch even one interview featuring the two of them, we guarantee you'll be squealing. Heck, they've even kissed each other (calm down—it was just as friends).
These two are such a joy to watch. Although they're also good friends behind the scenes, both having spent time at Saturday Night Live , it's the public aspects of their friendship that really get the fans going. The two regularly appear together on Jimmy's show, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, to sing duets, tape sketches and just generally goof around in each other's company. Whether they're riding around on bikes together or singing songs at a fictional summer camp, if Justin Timberlake and Jimmy Fallon are involved, it's guaranteed to be funny. Sometimes, things get so ridiculous that even they can't keep a straight face—and if things are so funny even the comedians can't keep a straight face, then you know it's good stuff.
Ah, few bonds are quite so powerful as the one between a Star Fleet captain and his science officer in Star Trek . Well, except the friendship between the actors who play the captain and the science officer, of course. Such is the case for Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine, who starred opposite one another in the remake of Star Trek . Although it takes their characters awhile to warm up to each other in the movie (they exchange blows before they even come close to calling each other friends), apparently the two actors wasted no time in becoming fast friends. In fact, the entire cast of the new Star Trek movies seems to be like one big happy family. Being locked up together for five years in a single space ship does that to people, we suppose.
These guys basically defined the Hollywood bromance. Ever since they first starred together as thieves in Ocean's Eleven , they've been...well, as thick as thieves (sorry, we had to). They went on to make multiple appearances together on the red carpet and every time, they make us swoon over them all over again. Between their obvious intelligence, their incredible acting skills and the way they both seem to effortlessly channel flawless Greek gods (hey, Pitt was cast as Achilles in Troy , so we ain't the only ones thinking it), these two are the ultimate power couple of the movie industry. And each movie they've done together is proof of this, from Ocean's Eleven to Burn After Reading, all raking in the critical acclaim.
Friends since primary school, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are the very definition of bromance. Not only did they stay friends into adulthood, but they wrote an Oscar-winning movie together, which launched both of their Hollywood careers. Now, both actors are titans within the industry, but they still make time for one another. In one of their more notable public appearances, Ben Affleck snuck a bundled up Matt Damon onto Jimmy Kimmel's show inside of a trench coat, hiding the curled Damon within his coat while he made his way towards Kimmel's couch. Later, he effectively gave birth to his friend on national television, releasing a gasping Matt Damon from his coat like a butterfly bursting from its cocoon. If that's not true friendship, we don't know what is.
There seems to be something about portraying Professor X and Magneto in X-Men movies that bonds actors together. It happened with Ian McKellan and Patrick Stewart, then it happened again for the young actors who played the parts in the remakes. After starring in X-Men: First Class, it became obvious that James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender were as close as the characters they played were before their falling out, riffing off of one another in interviews and just generally affixing each other with goo goo eyes whenever they were given the chance. It really is a pity their characters can't work things out in the series because, with their chemistry, McAvoy and Fassbender would play a killer bromance onscreen. But alas, the problem of Magneto wanting a super-race of mutants and Xavier... well, not wanting that, tends to drive them apart.
You've got to fake it 'till you make it, as they say. In the case of actors, playing close friends in onscreen roles seems to catalyze the formation of friendship in the real world. With Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law, all it took was starring opposite each other in the film versions of Sherlock Holmes for them to solidify a lasting, adorable and hilarious friendship. All you have to do is watch them interact in a single interview, and it's pretty obvious how much the two adore each other. Whether they're reminiscing about their time on set together or joking about the living arrangements in hotels during filming (spoiler alert: they shared a bed), these two love-birds easily top any list of celebrity bromances.
If you haven't witnessed the bromance between Lin-Manuel Miranda, the creator, writer and star of Hamilton (if you're feeling inadequate, don't worry—next to Lin, we all do), and Jonathan Groff, who payed Jesse St. James in Glee and King George III in Hamilton, then you really need to go search them up on YouTube... like, now. These two are freaking adorable. As a friend of Lin's, Jonathan agreed to play the role of King George III and, as he got acquainted with the play, he realized how incredibly special Hamilton was. During Lin's time on Broadway with Groff, or, as Lin calls him, "Groffsauce," the two shared multiple Vines of their beautiful bromance, including a couple of videos in which the two exchange rather surprising kisses.
For us regular joes, it can be difficult to make childhood friendships last. Although there's something unique about the bond that children share, as people grow up, they often change and grow apart. So, if it's hard for even us boring old non-movie stars to hang on to our childhood friends, imagine how difficult it must be for the big wigs in Hollywood. Fame just has a way of warping everything it comes across. But for Leonardo DiCaprio and Tobey Maguire, if it's done anything, fame has strengthened their friendship. First having met as kids trying to break into the world of child acting together in Los Angeles, the two became fast friends and have been close ever since, eventually going on to star opposite one another in The Great Gatsby .
