The meals are outstanding and cheap $10 specials with chips and salad . Cheap beers to would definitely be coming back before I leave on my 2 week holidays at surfers paradise
This place seems to sit in well with what I have come to expect from Southport, and that is not much. Even though the place is named after the famous Hollywood director Cecil B DeMills, there is nothing about this place that suggests that it sticks to that theme. In fact there is no theme in this place other than the fact that it is a pub, and a pretty stock standard pub at that. Sure, it has a restaurant and a sports bar as well as a pokies room hidden away behind a wall of frosted glass, but that is pretty much about it. Also I have to say that the staff really didn't seem to be all that enthusiastic in their job, which sort of put me off the place even more. Okay they weren't rude, but they didn't come across all that friendly either.

I don't believe its still currently operating as a hotel by this name or any other name at the current time. They had changed the name to "Stay On Main" but that has since been closed as well.
Last year it was sold to Simon Baron Development and is supposed to be undergoing a $100 million renovation that will turn it into a combination of a boutique hotel and 301 "micro" apartments.

The deceased woman was found in one of the rooftop water tanks that supply the hotel with water, not in a water heater.
That episode about the girl in the water heater was a story from 2013.
I went to LA last week and that was one of the places i wanted to check out but they're closed and remodeling..not sure when its going to open

Came on Kentucky Derby Saturday with a group of over 20 women on a rainy day. The organizer of our private event took care of all the details. We were seated in the back private room area but opted to leave the doors open to see the music videos and the derby race on the big screen. We had our private event menu printed out on the table for us and bottles of pre-made mimosas in ice bucket as we were being seated. During the course of our meal, we had waitress come by with free rose for Mother's Day (the next day) and free Makers shots. The service was really good despite us being such a large group on an eventful day. I add the steak (medium) and eggs (over medium). My steak was cooked correctly but eggs was a tad bit over cooked. I also requested toast as I didnt realize toast was not part of the dish. The toast took a bit longer than expected to come out. We also had to request salt, pepper and ketchup personally. We expected condiments automatically with such orders. But besides that everything else was exceptional. Music, service, ambiance great!
I have actually come here twice and both times I will say I was not disappointed. The best thing about this place? THE MUSIC. Every single song the DJ plays HITS. All the throwbacks, the reggae we miss hearing, and just the overall vibes makes me want to dance more than anything. You are guaranteed to have a great time by the energy alone. Please note, if you are looking for a quiet dinner spot to catch up, this place is not it. The food everything I go is on point. My steak is always cooked to perfection and I enjoy that. On their very busy nights, expect to wait more than normal for your meal. We were there this past Saturday (early V-day) and our waiter was definitely spread thin. We had to wait more than we liked for just about everything. However, the first time I went the wait was not as bad. If you are in the area, I recommend. It is a good steakhouse and comparatively to others, easier on your pockets. Since I don't really drink liquor I cannot speak to their cocktails.They did not even have a corona for my boyfriend when he asked, only Heineken. Seems like they may run out of certain beers before others. I had a riesling, it was okay.
I went there for a friend's birthday and my credit card was stolen by one of hostess and I was told that it has been happening there often and I don't Advise anybody that go there do not use your credit card there!!! Everything was good until she stole my card !!!And the manager had the audacity to take me outside with security as if I was the problem and the problem was I never got my card back and had to cancel it real quick before they do whatever they was gonna do with it they said they saw me spending a lot of money and I guess I made myself a target for them and they never gave me back my chase bank card I called the fraud department on them so I would never support them at all how dare they come into a black neighborhood and do that to people that work hard for the money!!
Come here to celebrate a friend's bday and had an amazing experience. The energy was amazing...we had so much fun at Sundays Drag Brunch.. i can't wait to return with more friends.. They were so entertaining and interactive and the DJ kept the party going as well... The drinks were good and strong.. The staff was accommodating and friendly. East Morris can you ask for... oh the food.. I only hap apps but heard no complaints at my table. This place is a whole vibe!
A group of friends and I made our way to eat here for an early dinner for my friend's birthday. The snow was not stopping us from having a good time & the snow was not stopping the business from making money. Due to weather the restaurant was not packed at all. Food, service and ambience was good. My dish was great, all the flavors in this dish were amazing. I tried the Ella & Louise Chicken which was plated with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies. Def would like to visit when the weather gets better to get a full experience.
This is my to go too steak house when I am in Harlem. The food and service is always good. The drinks are very strong. They know how to get you with the drinks and steak. The environment is romantic and sometimes they have a small club. The steak is A1
While the food at The Cecil is amazing, their customer service is mediocre at best. My siblings and I went there for lunch yesterday. It was 3pm and the music in the main hall was so loud that we could barely hear ourselves. We then politely asked the DJ to turn the music down a little and also asked to be seated in another room. Our server, though friendly, was very slow how he responded to us. Too many times we had to flag him down to either come get our orders, refill our drinks. He would often walk away for more than 10 minutes without even periodically checking on us. They also messed up one of our orders.
So me and the girls decided to have a Sunday brunch and drag show. One of the girls made a reservation for 3:15pm. When I arrived I had to circle the block to find a spot and finally found one. We got there on time but they failed to tell us regardless if we had reservations we still had to wait which was ridiculous. We waited about 30 minutes before we got sat. We sat outdoors and I am glad because inside had a lot of people and outside we could actually see the drag show. We were served by Antonio and he was great and attentive. The music was bumping from tbe DJ as well. I ordered the 32oz sangria but I wasn't feeling it so changed to the Hibiscus Nut cracker and that was good. For my meal I got the Dibi lamb and it was so tender and tasty. Fyi they don't substitute. The girls enjoyed their food and drinks. Gratuity was included in the bill and my portion was about $60. The drag show was very entertaining which was a plus. All in all we had a good time.
Not at all impressed. We got seated at 8 p.m. on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago. We ordered two cocktails to start. Approximately 25 minutes passed, and since the cocktails were not coming, we proceeded to order the appetizers and the entrees. We finished the appetizers (still--no cocktails). Our entrees came, which were steaks. They were slightly warmer than room temperature!! Insane, right? I didn't want to spoil the evening and make a scene, so I didn't complain (still--no cocktails). By the time we were about to FINISH our entrees, the cocktails finally came. INSANE!! We asked for the check. The check came, and we put down our cards. We got our cards back with the receipts, which had the lines to add the tip and write the total, but the main receipt was gone. One of us realized that the tip might've already been included, so we asked the waiter for the main receipt that had disappeared. The main receipt already had the tip included, which by the way, should have been a fraction for the service we received. Pretty strange to take the main receipt away if you ask me. Honestly, the only remarkable moment of the night were the dancers who did a great job with the show, and the only reason I'm giving this place two stars. Needless to say... Never coming back.
My first time here and I never knew this spot was here, to me this was a hidden gem of Harlem. If you ask me personally, you can't visit Harlem or live here without at least experiencing this steak house. Definitely a vibe.
