"Caterpillars from hell" are spreading across Denmark

Poisonous caterpillars of marching oak silkworms are spreading across Denmark, TV2 reports. A Danish TV channel calls them "caterpillars from hell." The hairs that cover the body of insects contain the toxic protein thaumetopein.

Contact with it causes skin irritation, itching, and breathing problems. In some cases, anaphylactic shock is possible.
