Singer Taime Downe formed the band in 1986, taking its name from the cult classic Russ Meyer film Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill! In 1987 they released their self-titled debut album which went gold.

There was a reunion (of sorts) in 2001 with three original members, Taime Downe, Brent Muscat and Greg Steele and the band released Between The Valley Of The Ultra Pussy which was classic tracks remixed in an industrial rock style - divisive with fans seeing as the band's original sound was nowhere to be heard.
Along with GNR and LA Guns, Faster Pussycat were among the main offenders in the Sunset Strips 80s sleaze rock scene. Taking their influence from glam rock and fusing it with a pinch of punk, their 1987 debut was full of fast riffs, low slung guitars and a serious dose of rock & roll attitude.
