Many reviews complain about the battery time, however it has not been a problem for me. Granted, that I have purchased it in late February thus, it might have been due a software update? Smart watches have very small batteries, yet they consist some of the tools that phones offers. So watch capacity needs to be managed. You don't need all of the features all at the same time all the time. Such as turn off wifi (only to turn on when you want to download or update apps. Turn off the bluetooth, whenyou don't have the need to sync notifications or turn off the location when you do not need the GPS. Particularly when you go to bed. Turn down the screen brightness when you are not outside directly under the sun. And DEFINITELY turn off screen gestures, you really don't need it. One tap on the screen and bright colored watch comes on right away. Watch screen is really bright and crystal clear. For me, It lasts 2.5 days if I don't get to exercise (I turn on GPS and Bluetooth when exercising). When all features are on battery lasts about 8 hours. We also own Samsung Galaxy Active. Watch battery lasts about 8-10 hours and it doesn't have GPS. What makes this watch so awesome is that it has the monochrome screen. It does not have a back light howeve, it is very easy to see in a room with lights on or during the day. So you don't have to turn on the bright light display, which saves a lot of battery. Watch comes with color GPS street map display (I think it is Google maps). It is hard for me to imagine to find a reason to use watch screen for tracking my running, cycling or walking path. My phone does the same at a much bigger screen with more functionality. And I can't imagine being in a situation where I can be comfortable without my phone. But if you want to do it, you have the functionality. Watch is very easy to set up and use. It is not as complicated as other Casio GShock type watches. It has many other functions such as counting calories burnt, steps, distance, compass with true north, altimeter, barometer (which is the best way to figure out how weather is going to be at your exact location and altitude.) The only missing part for me is the heart rate. It is available in the upgraded version but you have to cough up over $500. For me it really not necessary and worth it. You can do it by putting your 2 fingers on the left side your neck. Find the artery (carotid) that you can feel the heart beat. Count for 30 seconds. Then multiply the beat number by 2. (For example if you have 40 beats in 30 seconds, 40x2=80, you have 80 beats per minute (bpm). This is what athletes in every sport use and this method is much most accurate, only 2nd to measuring with stethoscope. In other words, if you are serious about working out, do not rely on your watch or treadmill to measure your heart rate.

I have an old solar powered ProTrek which was my second, and which has been an incredble workhouse watch for years. I decided to look for something with GPS primarily because of wanting to do more hiking. Trusted ProTrek instead of going off to Garmin and such. This watch is beautiful, and it may be that in several more days I'll master the complexities (and if so will update.) But so far, there are several things that bug me . First, it is very difficult to find clear how-to instructions; I downloaded the manual from Casio -- very long but you cannot find any instructions for some of the simpler tasks that I use every day -- I need a quick easy to use stopwatch for work and I often use a 25 minute timer for the Pomodoro method to help my work flow. Finding the stopwatch and the timer is very difficult -- theoretically they appear if you press the power button but that is actually disappointingly hit or miss -- sometimes this is not responsive. I'm sure the GPS functionality is likely to be fine but aside from accessing a current location map which is a bit vague so far, I've not experimented with this. Finally, they could no design a charger that sticks to the cable very well. if your charge level is low you can also see the time but pretty much everything else ceases to function. Compared to a nice solar watch, this is a major pain in the butt. When I started this review I was thinking that I'd just be patient and learn this watch better but since I've been typing, I'm starting to consider returning it and looking again at the GArmins. Update: a few days later. Spent more time hunting for directions. Slow slog and now I have a bunch of manuals and guides that had to be found in an unsystematic hit or miss way. Got a bi more on some of the programming but accidentally one point disconnected it from my iPhone and it took a bunch of trial and error (about an hour of work) to eventually have to reset to factory and then re-connect. I don't have an Apple Watch but in contrast I'm sure that would make this whole process nearly instant and pain-free, by comparison. AT some point this will just be a matter of something like sunk costs - I spent so long figuring out how to do stuff with it that it won't be worth returning it. And of course it is pretty and it does cool stuff. I have tabled returning it for now but I found myself just losing the research out on another fancy digital gadget I was thinking I needed yesterday, because a YouTube review made it lear that it would be another process like this one was to get the thing functional. live and learn, and then you die.

Been using for several months now, it worked normally as you would expect for a smart watch, like getting notifications from your phone, recording the activity information, and most importantly having a easy to see time. The features specifically offered by Casio, like the toolbox that contains nearly everything you might need for outside activities, and the separeted monochrome always-on layer, are great and probably essential to you, but I'm still not convinced of the price given for those extra features. Due the limitations of chip manufacturing process or simply because they don't want to pay for faster chips, this Watch feels laggy during everyday use, even my old Apple Watch gen 2 would sometimes feel smoother than that. Ludicrously a slower chip doesn't also bring a longer battery time as you would expect, it only lasts two days for normal use or according to their user manual, 2-3 days in "Extended Mode". Certainly you can use the "Extreme mode" to get a month's battery time, but you will have to reboot into a sepate system. Unless you are in a plane crash, I don't see any reason for using that since the features are so limited. Overall, if you are buying this watch mainly for daily use, don't do it. Just save $300 and use the remaining $200 to grab a watch from Samsung or Apple, but if you are planning to do a lot of outside camping and travelling stuff, this might be suitable for you. Wait, did I forget to mention that although it stated that it's "compatible with iPhone", but it's actually garbage that you have to keep the WearOS app open and nonetheless it still doesn't work all the time? Never mind.

I like it! I like to change watches, and this is my hiking watch.

Fun watch. I do more adventure things like photography trips etc. So I do not need all the excercise features of a Fitbit like heart count and all that. What I get is what I need. Messaging, texting. Location maping, weather, it does have a great low power feature so I only use full power features when I need to. It counts my steps, which is what I need when I am going and walking through the rough locations. I like the big size of the watch and the fun colour. It's cool, and comfortable.

An amazing product that holds up a year later.

As a CTO and currently serving military member I expect a lot from my watch in a diverse array of situation. This Casio watch has proved to be that and more in my daily use of it for almost a year now. Resilient, reliable, and still to this day without a hitch on its functioning. I have used this to schedule meetings, daily task, and weather the elements in field training exercises. There's nothing I wouldn't trust this watch to do, and nowhere I'd want to go without it!

Charging system could be better.

The charging cable and port could be better designed. It is very easy to disconnect which doesnt make it convenient to charge if you're on the go. You pretty much need to leave it on a table and connect the magnetic charger to it so it doesnt just fall off. Other than that, it is a great watch. Battery life could be a bit better too.
