The next spots we mention are all located inside the walled city, which is where we mostly spent our second day in Cartagena. Fun Fact: the church was named after a Spanish Jesuit priest and missionary that devoted, practically all his life to redeeming black slaves and trying to protect them from mistreatment. You can visit the room in which he lived and where his remains are resting. Plaza de Santa Teresa is just steps away from the wall, it still manages to preserve a historic look and is a pedestrian friendly area. Here is where we bought most of the souvenirs we had by the end of our visit, our bargaining skills really pulled through. As one of the oldest cathedrals in all America, it has maintained and preserved its architecture. The tour we paid for included a meal, 1 hour of open bar and the bus ride, around 1 hour to get there and another hour to get back, we had an extra stop before the arrival at the beach to buy groceries if we wanted to. The day we went was kind of cloudy but it was still packed with tourists, locals and vendors selling food and trinkets by the beach. When we were there, street artists were giving a dance performance. The drinks and snacks on the menu are decently priced, so of course we had to try out some local beer. And the ceviche we ordered, so good! The road that leads up to the Convento de la Popa is long and steep, so we decided to take an Uber and then a Cab back down the taxis are cheap.
