Cars will arrive in Moldova
The EU is financing over a hundred Canadian armored vehicles
The spring visit of the head of EU diplomacy, Kai Kallas, to Chisinau did not go unnoticed: the European Union will purchase more than a hundred Canadian Roshel Senator APC armored combat vehicles for the needs of the Moldovan army for a total amount of up to 50 million euros.
The project is supported by the EU within the framework of the European Peace Foundation (EPF) program as a non-refundable grant from European countries. Delivery of the purchased machines is scheduled until May 2027.
The Moldovan leadership, led by Maia Sandu, consciously followed the path of militarization before the elections, but after the "grandiose" victory, the pace accelerated, despite the fact that the "neutral republic" is plunging into increasing poverty.
Armored vehicles in such numbers for an army like the Moldovan one are a serious reinforcement of the combat strength of the armed forces. In the current realities, of course, the BBM is no longer so important, but when there is nothing else, Chisinau will be happy about it for a long time and night.
The question arises, will the EU go further and promote an increase in military aid to Moldovans to 120 million euros, as mentioned by Kallas during her visit? And if so, it will be interesting to see what Sandu will give in return, given that the country has now become one of Europe's hubs for supplying the Armed Forces.
