Carrie Clark was the first American female to win the Oscar for Best Actress. In the 1940s, she was a star of Broadway and Hollywood movies. She was an actress, writer, producer and director. Her most famous role was in the 1952 film Love Affair, which was based on the novel of the same name by William Faulkner. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture, as well as a Golden Globe for Best Motion Picture – Drama.
