Candy AI Video, Images and Live Action Explained: What Each Feature Costs (2026)

Disclosure: this guide contains affiliate links for five apps (Candy AI, Ourdream AI, JOI AI, Lovescape and Kupid AI), and a subscription made through one of them pays me a commission at no cost to you. For adults (18+) only. Facts come from Candy AI's subscriptions page, its Create Video page, its help centre and its terms, which I checked on 5 October 2026. Figures taken from reviewers carry a third-party label. I have not run a long hands-on test, so nothing here is a personal benchmark.

Search "candy ai video" and you get a jumble of names: Live Action, Build Your Video, image-to-video, Candy Shorts, Roulette, Candy Cam. They are separate features with separate rules, and most of them spend the same small currency. This guide splits them up by what you actually want to do, starts with the limits, and puts token costs next to each one so you can budget before you subscribe.

The short version

Nearly everything visual on Candy AI sits behind Premium and runs on tokens. A free account gets one generated image and no video. Premium (monthly at $9.99 to start and $13.99 after that, quarterly at $26.97, or yearly at $47.88) adds unlimited text chat plus 100 tokens a month. Video is the expensive part: Candy's own Create Video page charges 12 tokens for a five-second scene and 20 tokens for a ten-second one. So a month's allowance buys roughly eight short scenes, or a few dozen pictures, but not both.

The limits, before the features

Candy's visual tools are the strongest reason people pick it, so it is worth being blunt about where they fall short:

  • The allowance is small for video. 100 tokens disappears after a handful of clips. Heavy video users end up buying top-ups.
  • Results drift. The help centre says generated videos "may vary" from the options you choose and exact details "cannot always be guaranteed". Its image tips admit that keeping hair colour or clothing consistent can take several attempts, and each attempt costs tokens.
  • Some features are patchy. A June 2026 help article lists reasons audio or video can be unavailable, including beta features switched off, rollouts limited to certain accounts and regional restrictions.
  • Live Action is narrow. It works only for selected characters, only for Premium members, and the help article (last updated March 2026) says it is mobile-only for now.
  • Personal use only. Candy forbids selling or monetising anything you generate, and asks you not to post content made with its featured homepage characters at all.
  • Token rules after cancelling are unclear. Candy's terms (§10.2) let unused tokens lapse once a cancelled plan runs out, while a help-centre answer from August 2026 claims they remain on your account. Plan as if the stricter rule applies and spend tokens before you cancel.

If you want to make short videos of a character

There are two routes, and the help centre describes them a little differently depending on when each article was written.

Build Your Video (Create Video). This is the newer tool. You pick a character, a location and a partner option, then stack up to ten scenes, each 5, 10 or 15 seconds long. Presets save you from writing prompts; they range from tame ones such as a dance, a walk or a mirror selfie to explicit adult poses. The finished clip lands in "My Generations". The page code lists 12 tokens for a five-second scene and 20 for a ten-second one; the 15-second price is not shown publicly. Do the sums before you queue a long build: ten ten-second scenes would come to 200 tokens, twice a month's allowance.

Image to video. The older help article (March 2026) says Candy does not make video from scratch: you generate a picture first, then convert it into a short animated clip if the image suits it. Candy itself calls these "not full-scale animations". Third-party reviewers put a conversion at about 12 tokens, which matches the five-second scene price above.

Go here if you want a few short, posed clips of one character each month and accept that some attempts will miss. Go elsewhere if you want long, consistent video every day; the token maths will not work.

If you mainly want pictures

Pictures are the cheapest visual on Candy. Free accounts get exactly one. On Premium, you can generate from the image generator or simply ask in chat ("show me…", "send me…"). Candy does not publish a per-picture price; third-party reviewers report 2 tokens for the standard model and 4 for the newer one, which puts 100 tokens at somewhere between 25 and 50 pictures.

Two settings matter for your budget:

  • The image toggle. Premium members can switch off image generation in chat from the Ask menu. While it is off, the "Show me", "Send me" and "Can I see" prompts vanish from the menu, the character stops sending pictures and no tokens are spent.
  • Realistic mode. Some characters send photos, voice notes and videos on their own. The help centre explains that this comes from the "Realistic" chat mode and can be turned off with toggles next to the gift icon.

For better results, Candy's own advice is to describe the pose, the setting and the purpose plainly and to simplify when a complex prompt fails. Its community Discord is where users swap prompts.

Go here if still images are most of what you want: this is where Candy's allowance stretches furthest. If you prefer the idea of a cheaper plan with tokens to spare, start with our breakdown of what Candy's free tier and tokens really cost.

If you want something that feels live

Live Action is Candy's interactive video mode: full-screen scenes with a menu of actions for selected characters (look for the joystick icon). Guests and free users cannot open it. The help centre says some actions are free and others cost tokens, without listing amounts; third-party estimates are 15 to 20 tokens per minute of clips.

Candy Roulette drops you into video chats with a stream of AI characters, where you can skip a match, request actions and even switch on your camera. It is one of the few features with an official price: 5 tokens per minute. That is 20 minutes for a whole month's allowance.

Candy Cam imitates a live stream with a character such as "Sweet Daisy". The public chat is simulated, tips cost tokens to trigger actions, and the help centre notes that action requests inside a private chat are free.

Voice calls are still labelled beta. Third-party reports put them near 3 tokens per minute.

Go here if you want short, playful sessions rather than long ones. Anyone who expects an hour-long video call every night should look at the costs above twice.

If you would rather just watch

Candy Shorts are scripted, cinematic episodes under two minutes, separate from your chats, so they do not touch your history with a character. Candy makes no promise about how often new ones arrive. A third-party source claims longer episodes can cost more than 100 tokens; Candy does not publish a figure. Interactive Stories (the first is called Neon Run) sit in between: you play through an episode, make choices and chat with the character as it unfolds.

What 100 tokens actually buy

Here is the monthly allowance spent four different ways. Video prices are Candy's own; the rest are third-party estimates.

  • Video only: eight five-second scenes (96 tokens) or five ten-second scenes (100 tokens).
  • Pictures only: about 25 pictures on the newer model, or about 50 on the standard one.
  • Roulette only: 20 minutes.
  • A mix: say 15 pictures (about 30–60 tokens) plus two or three short scenes.

Candy's referral help article values 200 tokens at $20, so each token is worth about ten cents. Top-up prices sit behind the login; reviewers say the smallest pack is 100 tokens for $9.99. Premium Plus, a newer tier, includes 330 tokens a month and Live Action, but its price is not shown publicly.

Before paying for extra tokens, remember the refund rule: outside the EU and UK, Candy looks at refund requests only during the first day after a charge, and not once more than 20 tokens have been spent. Cancelling never triggers a refund by itself, so treat a top-up as spent money.

Should you choose Candy for visuals?

For most people who care about pictures and short clips more than long stories, yes, with the token caveat stated plainly: the subscription is cheap, the media budget is not generous. A sensible test is the monthly plan, a careful first month, and a note of how fast the tokens go. Before deciding, check Candy AI's plan cards.

If the token model puts you off, these are the honest alternatives, downsides first:

  • Lovescape: faces can drift between outputs and long chats get repetitive, but the whole product is designed around making pictures, clips and interactive scenes. Lovescape's own pricing guide (February 2026) puts yearly Premium at $71.88 with 600 chips each month, but Aug–Oct 2026 checkout reports show $95.88 a year or $19.99 a month, so confirm at checkout. Go here if you want to direct scenes rather than chat: see Lovescape's tools.
  • Kupid AI: no monthly plan (weekly or yearly only) and reviewers say video often ignores the prompt, but its official table spells out weekly quotas, such as 25 photos and 8 videos a week on Pro, which is billed at $12.99 weekly or $179 yearly. Go here if fixed quotas suit you better than a token wallet: check Kupid AI's plans.
  • Ourdream AI: costs more (a monthly membership is $19.99 and the annual one $119.88) and video is its weakest feature by most accounts, yet its 1,000 monthly coins go much further for still pictures. Go here if you generate lots of images: view Ourdream AI.
  • JOI AI: its terms price adult media steeply (opening a photo can take as many as 120 Neurons, a video as many as 1,900), though free accounts get 6 lifetime image generations to try. Go here if you care more about licensed creator characters than about making your own clips: look at JOI AI.

If you are arriving from Character.AI and visuals are only one of your reasons, the Medium guide matching each Character.AI alternative to the reason you are leaving covers the wider field.

FAQ

Can Candy AI make videos?
Yes, on Premium. You can convert a generated picture into a short clip or build a multi-scene video from presets with Create Video. Both use tokens.

How many tokens does a Candy AI video cost?
Candy's Create Video page lists 12 tokens for a five-second scene and 20 for a ten-second scene. Longer builds add up scene by scene.

Is Live Action free?
No. The help centre lists it as Premium-only and token-gated; some actions inside it are free, others cost tokens.

Can I make images on the free plan?
One. Free accounts get a single generated image, five messages in total and one custom character.

Why did my character send a photo I did not ask for?
That is the "Realistic" chat mode. Switch it off with the toggles next to the gift icon, and turn off the image toggle if you want no surprise token spending.

Can I post my Candy AI videos online?
Only for personal, non-monetised use, and not for the featured characters from the homepage. Commercial use is prohibited.
