Hi, in Cancun and wanted to know if anyone knows about strip clubs. Wanna do something different. I also want to do atv rides. which company did u use.
Cancun has strip clubs but be very careful. Those are the kind of places often associated with cartel violence in Cancun since they are often investors in the business. ATVs would likely be much safer.
There are two places I would never go in Mexico - Casinos and strip joints. You are asking for trouble for sure with the latter. If you need to see naked ladies, walk the beach.
Lol strip clubs are fine to go in. When my friends and I were in our late teens to early 20s we’d go often. At the height of the cartel war too. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun.
Not sure about ATV rides unfortunately. Enjoy your trip.
" At the height of the cartel war too." Now is the worst cartel war ever in the city with record cartel hits. If you read the local Spanish language papers, you would know have safe the strip clubs are. Not at all safe.

Agree, tdg. True what you mentioned about the strip clubs and also many undocumented, often underage , females working there.
Agree about the casinos. I am often in them with a young lady friend from Cancun who really enjoys going there. I really never have any concerns there. Of course, I am sure I know who operates them but have never heard of any problems there.
How many cartel hits happen in strip joints there in the Yucatán? I’m really curious. I seriously just don’t think it’s likely that they’re more dangerous than strip joints here in TJ which isn’t touristy relative to Cancun .
I know I’m generalizing but there seems to be a lot of paranoia here about doing anything out of the typical hotel zone tourist stuff. We stayed at a resort in the hotel zone but went four days early so we could stay downtown at a private rental. I was so surprised at all the warnings I got here about staying downtown.
I usually stay downtown when I go to Cancun . I know Cancun fairly well and I prefer it there. But I still would not be wandering into a strip club no matter where it is located.
Not certain if the concerns about Cancun are paranoia. I just read today that a survey shows that almost 90% of Cancun residents do not feel safe there

Heading to Cancun for a batchelor party, and just wanted to know which are the best/safest strip clubs in the hotel zone.
There are now no strip clubs in the hotel zone. They just closed down "The One", which was the one and only club left. The city has moved all strip clubs to the outskirts of town in an area called "Plaza 21". If you are going in a group you might be alright, get a few taxis and negotiate with the drivers to help you out for the night. I know it's easier said than done, but watch what you drink and what they are charging you for, these are not your "McDonald's" of strip clubs, they are pretty shady places. It would definitely be an experience, but I would seriously consider hiring a local (staff member of your hotel perhaps) to be your guide, negotiate rates and help with any language barriers.
As an alternative, you could always contact a "private dancer" and have a private party in your hotel rooms.

CancunCanuck is giving you the goods on this one and it's sound and solid advice. I'd only add and because it's a family friendly board that much of what you'll find at Plaza 21 is what we'll euphemistically call "Cat Houses" with the shake joints only providing the front for what's really happening. The area is a wide open venue for much of what's considered criminal in many parts of Cancun or Mexico for that matter. If you go, keep your money safe, your wits about you and trust no one because the risk levels are much higher than in the tourist zones and in most of the city, especially late at night. You'll also generally find the Taxi rides in are much less than the taxi rides out at night.
Crazy, I don't have any first hand knowledge of the strip clubs in Cancun , but I did grow up less than thirty miles from the Mexico /U.S. border and I have been to "strip clubs" in border towns from Tijuana to Matamores. My adivce is simple, don't go. These places are not like you might find in the U.S. More likley than not, they are just fronts for a brothel. Not only are they a front, but things can get very dicey quickly in this kind of establishment. If you do decide to go: stay with your group; don't drink to excess; and, don't take anymore money with you than you are willing to spend.
Was The One shut down because of all the illegals working for it? Or are there other reasons besides the owner being super shady?
I've been told that most of the "employees" at The One are hitting the clubs to try and make some money and are not hard to spot. I've seen them myself.

Yea, those girls just can't wait to see YOU and your drunk friends. Man they must just lie awake at night wanting YOU. ONLY you. They only dance for you not the money you provide maybe to feed their kids or aging parents.
go somewhere else for this advise and get some love from your with your soon to be wife. Poor thing.

The One was shut down yet again, this time, presumably permanently, by the local government due to the ongoing cleanup of prostitution, drugs and negative image problems that the Tourism folks are trying to correct from certain operations.. The locals have offered them a site at Plaza 21's Zona de Tolerancia if the Club wants it but who knows where the money will eventually flow in this one before the smoke clears. The other club in PDC remains open if I'm not mistaken.
I heard they were not serving lobster at the RPLA.... Am I on the right thread?
They certainly add drinks to your bill. Best to pay per round and tell the waiter you will tip at the end of the night if you get service. Most of the clubs offer a 2x1 beer but you must order a certain brand or you will pay a ton. Taxis will charge you the fare but also they and the club will charge you a $25 cover (that price might be higher now) and the driver also gets that $25. 'Locals' don't pay a cover. If you walk in looking like you know that there is no cover then they will not charge you. Make sure you tell the driver up front you know there is no cover. Other than those 2 issues you will be safe. I took a big group there in Dec and we did an open bar plus round trip transfers and things went ok.
DON'T GO! After reading all this I don't want to read about you in the papers. If you go outside the hotel zone for this, you will be in danger. Just going to Market 28 is dangerous in itself and those Mexicans love Americans and their money. Don't let you Fiance' have to worry about you when you're gone.

are there any gentlemens clubs in cancun?
Sure are...down in in SM 21. Just ask your nearest taxi cab driver. There are a few down there but don't expect anything special like they have in Texas. It's like your local strip club pretty much. Anything goes there too.

do you think it would be a 'couples' friendly place if i want to go with my BF?
Ten years ago, there was a place outside of town called Chilly Willies. All you had to do was mention it to any cab driver and they would smile ear to ear. There was some extra curricular activity going on at that place. I am not sure if it is still in business. Maybe LuvCerveza could advise.
They are there and will provide you with any service that you want to pay for.
Someone mentioned in another post to stay away from the strip clubs down there as they are dirtier/skankier than the ones in the US. What does that mean? That the entertainers and guests are questionable?
who knows, it might be a shady place to go to in cancun depending on whichever one you go to. but ive never gone to one there before so i wouldnt know
