Can someone explain the difference between Health Insurance and any other Insurance?

Our boy (19) struck a left vehicle within our area. We're looking to choose when it is easier to pay for the damages to car that he struck ($2500) without going right through our insurance company or to record it to the business. The individuals automobile he hit is willing to let us payout of wallet. My son had a past at fault crash and contains 2 details today. His car is totaled. Issue is our insurance charges can go up and it is it possible-they will end our plan.
