A FAME-HUNGRY porn star faked a vicious shark attack because she wanted the gruesome video to go viral, a top marine expert has claimed.
Bryce Rohrer, owner of Florida Shark Diving, said X-rated actress Molly Cavalli approached him "months ago" saying she wanted to film a dive and mock up a horror shark bite.
Mr Rohrer claims he even has a text message allegedly sent by Cavalli with an image of what the bite would look like using special effects makeup.
He said: “I was talking directly to Molly and she just said, 'Hey, we are looking to do a shoot faking a shark bite and it’s strictly in order for it to go viral'.
“We immediately declined. We are pro-shark, pro-wildlife and want to show the importance of sharks, not villainize them.”
But it now seems the film crew from adult website CamSoda found another boat to take them out on the waters off Palm Beach County and the resulting video DID go viral - notching up over 14million views.
Florida shark expert George Burgess, of the International Shark Attack File, also questioned the wound.
According to a news release from CamSoda, the “shark-attack incident” required 20 stitches.
Mr Burgess said: “I can tell you for a fact, it was not a shark bite.
“How it was inflicted is conjectural, but the main thing is, the injury is not a shark bite.
"It was a PR stunt, and it worked.”
Neither the film company nor the actress have so far responded to the allegations.
It was originally reported the film shoot went horribly wrong when a ten-feet lemon shark broke through a shark cage and took a chunk out of Cavalli's foot and ankle.
She was seen desperately scrambling to get out of the water and back to the safety of the film crew's boat.
The porn star later took to Instagram to reassure her fans she was OK.
“Thanks for your well wishes guys,” she wrote. “I’m totally fine. It's not as bad as it seems. I'm healing quickly. It was still an amazing experience.”
