Gotham star Camren Bicondova explains why she departed the Fox series before its finale in a lengthy social media post.
After five seasons, Gotham officially comes to an end with its series finale premiering on Fox this Thursday, but original series star Camren Bicondova will not appear in the final episode.
In a lengthy social media post, Bicondova explained the decision not to reprise her role as future Catwoman Selina Kyle in the series finale was a decision she made herself to allow an adult actress to portray the character in the finale's flash-forward, which shows an adult Bruce Wayne finally defending Gotham City as Batman.
Bicondova confirms that guest star Lili Simmons ( Ray Donovan ), who Bicondova referred to as "perfect" for the role, will play the adult Selina.
Having starred as the character ever since the first season in 2014, Bicondova has portrayed the teenage version of the classic DC Comics antihero across all five seasons, with this past week's episode marking her final appearance in the role. After explaining her rationale for stepping down, Bicondova thanked the series' crew for believing in her as she took the role of a lifetime.
Concluding Thursday, April 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox, Gotham stars Ben McKenzie as James Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Robin Lord Taylor as Penguin, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth and Shane West as Bane.
