Over the past 50 years, the Cambridge School Classics project has been refining and developing the world’s leading Latin program, the Cambridge Latin Course. The course immerses students in the language and culture of the Roman Empire, and has them reading Latin from the very first page. Through our digital learning platform, students can access dramatizations of stories, documentaries that enhance the cultural themes, and interactive language activities to check understanding.
As classics enrolment in secondary education declines, educators are grappling with the same questions: how can we show our students that Classics is for everyone, not just an elite group who look and sound a certain way? How do we teach the problematic and uncomfortable truths of antiquity in a way that is sensitive to the diverse backgrounds of the students sitting in front of us? What can we do to build Classics classrooms where every student feels seen and heard? These professional development materials in the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Latin Classroom series bring our North American Latin teaching community together through the sharing of initiatives, case studies, lesson ideas, and much more.

Here’s what teachers and learners from around the world are saying about us.
"I use the Cambridge Latin Course and absolutely love it. The stories are interesting (and often funny), and the grammar explanations make sense. There is no other textbook out there with such a wide variety of ancillary materials that are easily available."
"“I see excited children making connections
between Latin and English words. It’s a great
feeling for me to be part of their enthusiasm.”"

ABOUT A PACKAGE AND COMPONENT AVAILABILITY

A "package" is made up of two or more items sold as a set, often for a reduced price. A listing of individual items that make up a package is provided on the package item's product detail page along with real-time item availability of those items. Any item sold as a package on our website is identified by a unique alpha-numeric item number (such as "APH1AB"). Although packages are sets, items are not physically bundled together .. Because most package items or components are also sold separately and may be components of multiple packages, these items may not have the same inventory availability at any point in time. When you order a package, you are charged one price for all package items. In-stock components will ship according to our normal shipping time. Any backordered components will ship separately as they become available. On your packing slip, package components are picked and packed individually and are identified with the code "PKGCMP" in the price column. The package item number is also listed at the bottom of your packing slip for reference. Please note that if your order ships in multiple boxes, package components may not all be in the same box. Package content is not flexible and cannot be modified.

Packages are returnable if all package items are returned, but individual items purchased as part of a package are returned, they may be refunded for less than the individual purchase price of that item, as they were purchased as part of a discounted package.

Although not specifically designed for homeschool use, it would be hard to beat the combination of history, culture, grammar, and literature found in this immersion-based Latin program! The strength (and appeal) of this program is that it gets students reading and comprehending in Latin right away. Each "stage" or chapter in the text opens with illustrations captioned with short sentences or paragraphs in Latin. The captions are designed to be the "model" sentences for that stage. Between the pictures and the text, students can intuit the meaning of the sentences, even if somewhat roughly. This is followed by a vocabulary list that includes the Latin words (and their English translations) used in the captions. Following the vocabulary list is a reading passage, also entirely in Latin, and another vocabulary list. With the Latin students have already learned in the captions and vocabulary lists, the reading passage should be understandable for them. The first three units use fictional but realistic stories about Roman characters which are strung throughout the book, while Unit 4 utilizes actual Latin literature for practice. Following the Latin immersion passage, youll find two sections which focus on language - "About the Language," and "Practicing the Language." In the first section, students will read simple explanations of Latin grammar and syntax, while example sentences (in Latin) are also given. Some of these sections are purely informative, while others feature short practice exercises or reference charts. The bulk of the text exercises are found in the "Practicing the Language" section, where students use their Latin reading, grammar, and usage skills to translate and complete sentences, change parts of speech into d
