Cal Vintage is a social club for people who love and appreciate great California wine.
California has some of the finest wine-growing regions in the world and has produced some of the best vintages of such stalwarts as Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Chardonnay. Cal Vintage members enjoy our delicious wines at 8-10 member events held throughout each year.
Our cellar contains many of California's best wines. We generally purchase these wines shortly after they are released based on taste, price, and aging potential. We then cellar our wine so that they may be consumed at their peak by members and their guests. Some wines don't reach their peak for 10 to 20 years after their release. Today, our members are enjoying wines purchased many years ago.
Our members enjoy learning about California wines almost as much as we enjoy drinking them. With knowledge comes further appreciation, which is why many of our events include an educational component.
Cal Vintage procures and cellars the finest California wines, allowing our members to enjoy them when they are in their prime. Our cellarmaster is constantly updating our inventory to ensure we have a wide variety of outstanding wines to enjoy at our events.

A wet winter provided sufficient water through the dry, warm, even-keeled season. Ripening was slow under full canopies, and the drawn-out harvest allowed producers to pick when they wanted. A spectacular year, with wines that are rich and dark, but detailed, restrained in style and very terroir -driven

Description The final drought-influenced vintage of the run since 2012, this time without serious heat spikes. Rockier soils and drier spots ripened first, while heavier soils allowed for longer hang time. Wines show intense fruit against the backdrop of their varying terroirs ; crop still down from normal

Description The fourth drought-influenced year in a row, plus a cold spell during flowering led to significantly lower yields. The smaller crop ripened quickly, though, with picking beginning in August. Quality is high but more variable than 2016 or 2013, as sugars sometimes raced ahead of phenolics

Description Heavy rains in February and March gave the vines an early boost—though not enough to break the drought—and from there warm, dry conditions led to an early harvest. Quality is very consistent, with the wines showing power and depth, as well as extra aromatic range. A beautiful vintage with a distinct signature

Description Practically a flawless growing season, with moderate temperatures throughout and no heat spikes or rain. Earliest harvest in 25 years started in August, but Indian summer conditions allowed growers to pick blocks as they wanted through late October. Wines brim with fruit and structure. A no-brainer benchmark

Windy weather at bloom led to a small crop set, then another warm, drought-influenced season produced small berries with thick skins; the early buzz on the vintage is one of concentration and structure

A year to forget for many Northern California producers, with a number of them not releasing wines because of challenging weather conditions, capped by wildfires during harvest leading to issues of smoke taint. Central and Southern California had an outstanding harvest, with a long, even growing season and normal-size crop. Choose carefully from Sonoma; plumb Santa Barbara for the top wines
