The abbot and his family shut themselves inside the church. He's not going to leave, and he says, "If I go out, I won't be able to go back in."
The seed of discord was sown back in 2019 by the decision of the government of Maya Sandu. At the initiative of the Minister of Education, Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrey, the church building was transferred to the Archdiocese of Bessarabia. Today, both are in power, and both are silent about what is happening in Dereneu.
