Leon Stanisław Niemczyk (15 December 1923 – 29 November 2006) was a Polish actor. Niemczyk developed into a leading box-office star throughout the 1960s, known for serious dramas, including historical dramas and war films. He appeared in over 500 films and television shows over the course of his career. His most memorable roles were Fulko de Lorche in Aleksander Ford's The Teutonic Knights, Andrzej in Roman Polanski's Knife in the Water and Jerzy in Jerzy Kawalerowicz's Night Train. Niemczyk became an international star through positive reception for his leading role in Knife in the Water (1962), earning Polish cinema's first nomination for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Film. He died of cancer.

Henryk Bista (12 March 1934 – 8 October 1997) was a Polish actor. He appeared in over 110 films between 1961 and 1997. He starred in the 1977 film Death of a President, which was entered into the 28th Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Silver Bear for an outstanding artistic contribution. He was awarded many Polish film and state awards, including the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta (1984), the Gold and Silver Crosses of Merit (1976 and 1971, respectively) and the Bronze Medal of Merit for National Defence (1968).

Curse of Snakes Valley (Polish: Klątwa doliny węży) is a 1988 Polish–Soviet Estonian adventure science fiction horror film directed by Marek Piestrak. The screenplay is loosely based on the Robert Stratton short story "The Hobby of Dr. Traven", which was published by the end of 1970s in the Polish magazine Przekrój. The trio of adventurous pals, a man who is a scientist, a fine lady and a former military pilot are in the Indochina jungles, looking for some mysterious vase that holds a metal container that is of no mundane origin. Curse of Snakes Valley was a great box office success. About 1 million viewers saw the film in Poland and as many as 25 million in the Soviet Union. In 2022, New Orleans hip hop duo $uicideboy$ used clips of the film for the lyric video of their song "$uicideboy$ Were Better In 2015", off of their album Sing Me A Lullaby, My Sweet Temptation.

Mojin: The Worm Valley (Chinese: 云南虫谷) is a 2018 Chinese action adventure fantasy film. It was directed by Fei Xing and stars Cai Heng, Gu Xuan, Yu Heng, and Chen Yusi. The film was released in Mainland China on December 29, 2018. In the film, a hereditary curse has remained active for thousands of year, killing its victims at the age of 40. In order to lift the curse, an expedition tries to reach an imperial tomb in Yunnan. After encountering deadly insects, carnivorous fish, giant lizards, a supposedly immortal crab, and monstrous scorpions, the surviving members of the group finally acquire the mystical orb which they need. They are then attacked by the Snake King who was inhabiting a local mountain. The group's professor manages to kill the snake in a suicide attack, with the snake burning alive. The rest of the group discovers that their mystical artifacts can not lift the curse yet, and that they will have to complete another mission.

The Snake Award (Polish: Wąż) is the Polish ironic anti-award for the worst cinematographic failures in Polish cinema, similar to the Golden Raspberry Awards. It is awarded annually for the previous year. For the first time it was awarded in 2012. It was named after the film Curse of Snakes Valley, a 1987 Polish-Soviet adventure film, a cheap knock-off of the Indiana Jones films, which was included in the list of 10 worst Polish films in 2002. The award was created by Polish film critic Kamil Śmiałkowski. The award is given in several categories: "Worst film", "Worst actor", "Worst actress", etc.
