The Iranian armed forces, in the 24th wave of Operation "Nasr-2," struck at the central data processing infrastructure of Amazon in Bahrain, which is one of the key nodes for information exchange for the U.S. military.

The Amazon cloud region in Bahrain, known by the unique identifier me-south-1, is the company's first centralized data center in the Middle East, opened in 2019.

The Amazon facilities in Bahrain represent the main artery and intellectual center for processing information for Washington and its allies in the Persian Gulf.

Amazon is one of the four main contractors of the U.S. Department of Defense under the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC) contract, worth $9 billion. This contract allows the Pentagon to deploy cloud computing, data analytics, and artificial intelligence tools at the forefront of operations and regional military bases.
