Buying weed Bohinj

Welcome back to the end of this journey! I like knowing that I can speak English to everyone. I missed all the restaurants and kinds of foods that I usually eat on a regular basis. I like driving everywhere I go. Well I left off last blog with Anthony and I resting in the Ljub for a few days. We met up with my parents after a few days. We started off by visiting Lake Bled and Bohinj. Both are beautiful lakes in Slovenia. Bohinj is a little less touristy and farther into Triglav National Park. There was 0 wind so the reflection of the lake looked like a giant mirror. We swam in an area of the lake specifically for swimmers. Not everyday you swim in a crystal clear lake with stunning sights all around. That night we went back to the Ljub and ate at my favorite restaurant Dabuda. Went to my favorite ice cream place where I would go to pretty religiously. Ended the night at my favorite pub, Cutty Sark, and watched some sports. The next day we headed off to Pula, Croatia where we would stay for a few days. Along the way we visited Postojna Caves Fun Fact: most visited cave system in the world. My parents, however, loved it and thought it was a miracle how a cave could end up so beautiful. My mom is also a trooper through all this because she crutched a couple miles on slippery and steep cave floors. There was also Predjama Castle near the caves which is a famous castle built into a cave that we also visited I also visited this before. Crazy how a castle can be engineered so fluidly into a cave. We ended up in Pula that afternoon and our Airbnb was typical except for the garage was an elevator. You see new things everyday. So we would press a bottom and our spot would come out of the ground and then we would lower it again. During dinner we saw an advertisement for a bar with guys dressed as a bottle and an opener costume so the only logical thing to do was take a picture. Of course it was just the guys that found that amusing while my mom watched from the sideline. That seems to be a theme anywhere we go. We ended up walking around the tourist street every European city usually has one and buying a few gifts that we convince ourselves to buy so we can flex on people that we had actually visited there. The next day we woke up bright and early because we had a kayak and cave tour. Weather was great, sun was shining, light quartering winds from the south in more ways than one. Anthony and I paired up for kayaks and there was confusion in how the duo should operate so we ended up zig-zagging the whole way instead of just traveling in a straight line. We got to the cave and snorkeled around a bit. I ended up touching a jellyfish and cliff jumping. My adventurous spirit kept wanting to do things in this little area so I was having a great time. On the way back I forgot to put my t-shirt back on which proved to be a fatal decision. I looked like a hot tamale with a horrible tan line. My skin ended up peeling two weeks after it happened. Anyways, we got lunch at this really cool beach restaurant. That night we toured Pula and watched the sunset at a restaurant on the water. Another time you just soak in the moment. We left early the next morning because I needed to get back to the Ljub in time to check out of my room and meet with my counselor. We also needed to drop Anthony off at the airport. That night we went to the Open Kitchen which is when local restaurants turn into street vendors. I met up with friends for the last time and hung out with them the rest of the night. We drank a few beers and goofed around one last time in Tivoli Park. Moments like these were some of my favorite while abroad. Spending time with friends just relaxing and talking. But it was also a time for goodbyes and it was weird realizing this was all coming to an end. A group of us split off and went to a massive concert. He is such an amazing entertainer and I already knew most of his songs. We drove to Austria near Hallstatt where we would stay for the next few nights. This was our favorite part of the trip for all three of us just because of how beautiful and isolated the Austrian Alps were. We stayed in a small town where we were probably the only tourists and we could walk from one side another in 15 minutes. We visited Gausasee Lake nearby and had to be just as beautiful as Bohinj. There were a few waterfalls as we walked around the lake but the water was so extremely cold I could only stand in it for a few seconds before getting numb. Next we went to Hallstatt which is very touristy but still beautiful. The next day we left Austria and headed for Prague. There were more stunning views of the Alps and we found it funny how many tunnels there are in Austria even when the landscape is rather flat. We stopped at Cesky Krumlov which is a very beautiful small town in the Czech Republic. We walked around the city and saw some of the cool sights and ate lunch at a nice local Czech restaurant. Afterwards we made our way up to the Prague Castle which is very beautiful and intricate both inside and outside. My mom once again was a trooper all day because she crutched around 5 miles and climbed 11 flights of stairs. Phil Collins was on tour in town and my parents really wanted to see his concert. I had to be the youngest person in that room since Phil Collins is more of my parents genereation. Im confident the beer is the cheapest than any other arena because I got a. Fun Fact: since beer is so cheap and prevalent, Czechs drink the most beer per person than any other country Back to the concert, Phil Collins had some jamming songs. Drums, percussion, and brass instruments all going crazy and it was just so fun to just sit back and listen. The next day we tried planning around the heat so we went on a boat tour and did a bit of shopping. Nothing too extremely fun. To make it more interesting we played with cards in Czech since we already knew what each card already did. It was funny getting confused looks playing with Czech cards when people could clearly see we were American. The next night we left open so we could spontaneously decide what to do. We decided to stay next to a lake in Austria. We stayed right on the water and the lake was filled with kite surfers. There was also a wine festival close by so we just sat on the dock, drank wine, and enjoyed watching all the kite surfers. We met an Austrian couple who shared similar interests so we talked with them the rest of the night. We left Austria the next day towards Budapest but along the way we took some back roads and drove through some small towns. The rest of the day in Budapest was rather uneventful. Although it did take us an hour to find our Airbnb. The next and last full day in Europe, we toured around Budapest. We ended up doing the Hop On, Hop Off bus which was perfect because we got to see as much of the city in one day. A boat tour was also included so we gotta cruise down the Danube. One of my buds from Slovenia happened to be in town so I split off from my parents and hung out with him and his Aussie friends. We just went to dinner and had a few drinks back at his hostel. Since I had an early flight I left dipped out early but they were a fun group of guys to be around. It was an early next day since we had a morning flight. We had a layover in Dublin where I had my last Guinness in Ireland. I crashed as soon as I got home because of the whole time zone thing. Since being home I stayed in Cali for a couple weeks. Tried staying busy by hanging with friends and going on several day trips. This is the end of my journey. I have gone places that I never thought I would go. My motto through the whole semester was to not go home with any major regrets and I feel I fulfilled that. Hvala and ciao! Funny Story: While we were at the wine festival in Austria, there was a reggae band that was just absolutely terrible. Like I started laughing once they started playing. Welcome back people! I believe this is my 8 th blog and boy has it been a ride. A lot of my friends in Ljubljana have already flown back home so there have been a lot of surreal goodbyes. Kinda weird to know the semester has come to an end. It truly does go by faster than you think. Disclaimer: this blog may be longer than most so grab your popcorn and slushy. Well I left off my last blog the week before finals. Nothing too interesting during that time. I studied for 3 finals and wrote an essay all within a week. Afterwards though, it was travelling the rest of my time in Europe. I convinced my best bud to fly out from California and come visit. We planned to meet in Stockholm and go from there. To get there it took another full days travel of buses and a plane. By the end of the day I was extremely exhausted. It took some walking around to finally find a place that would accept a poor soul like me. I planned to go to bed early since Anthony arrived early the next day. However, his plane got delayed 8 hours which threw a wrench in the itinerary. I found myself constantly rebooking and changing things. In the end it all worked out though. I was very appreciative of him to fly out and travel Europe for 2 weeks with me. I was jealous when all my other people had friends or family come visit them. Once he arrived, I figured he would be jetlagged but I tried encouraging him to get on the time zone and he was a sport about adjusting. We walked around the city for a bit and got settled in. Since plans changed last minute, the only hostel that we could shack up for the night was a pretty sketchy one. It was a room of 28 beds and not the cleanest. Interesting place to say the least. But it worked for the night. We watched the sunset on a hill overlooking the city. We got lost on our way so we missed the actual sunset but it stays light out until around midnight so it was still a stellar view. The next day I planned a surprise 2-day cruise to Helsinki and back. Still, I thought it would be something fun to do and it was! We ate an all you can eat and drink buffet looking out the front of the boat. I practically waddled out of the restaurant. At night, there were some semi-good entertainment which were still enjoyable. It was more enjoyable when Anthony and I made completely fools of ourselves dancing the whole night. And once we were finished, we went downstairs to the nightclub and danced a bunch more and made even bigger fools of ourselves. The next day we walked around Helsinki for a few hours. Cool city from what we saw. We took a fat nap once we got back to the boat for probably 5 hours. When we ported back in Stockholm, we took a bus out of town to a lake and we took a hike around it. We also decided to try a sauna after the hike. Little did we know it was a nude sauna. It felt nice sitting in the sauna then running into the lake to cool off. We would put our clothes back on obviously. Later that night, we stayed in the most unique hostel. It was a Boeing turned into a hostel. I was nerding out the whole time and how it was all laid out. It also worked out nice to stay near the airport to catch our early flight to Dublin the next day. During the meal I realized that it was my first taste of Guinness. That night we made friends with some Aussie girls at our hostel who were very fun to hang out with during our time in Dublin. We all went out on a pub-crawl which was quite enjoyable, goofed around, and went to a couple different pubs around town. Everyone wears headphones so if you take them off then it is dead silent with a bunch of people dancing. Every now and then I would take off the headset just to see how ridiculous everyone looked. We did the Guinness tour the next day since I think everyone and their mother does that. Our new Aussie friends even tagged along with us for the day. Being with them made the tour more enjoyable since we would just goof around half the time. We also scored on a couple free beer coupons while on the roof bar from a nice old lady. She quickly set it on our table and walked away. After the tour, we went to another pub. The next day we took a day trip to the Cliffs of Moher. The bus ride was taxing but the guide had my kinda humor. Plus the views at the cliffs were stunning so it made it all worth it. Anthony is brave enough to sit on the edge whereas I could barely look over the edge lying on my stomach. At night we went to dinner again with our friends at, you guessed it, at another pub. We cut the night short since we had a 6am flight to Munich. I made the mistake of booking a flight at 6am. By the time we got to Munich all we wanted to do was sleep. The next day Anthony and I walked around the city mostly. The atmosphere of Germany is something I really enjoy. The parks are beautiful and relaxed. There is always some festival or event going on. The city overall was most awesome. We spent the rest of the night hanging with our Canadian friends. Went to famous Hofbrahaus restaurant and a bar afterwards. Fun night once again. The next day our bus departed back to Slovenia so we could settle down for a bit. We went on a small hike that overlooked Ljub and enjoyed some beers at the top. I decided to whip out my speaker and start playing country music during the hike. The few days in the Ljub were spent going out to eat with friends and resting. My parents flew out to visit after of few days of us being in Slovenia. That concluded our trip together and boy was it a ride. Made some memories and met some awesome people. Funny Story: Since our flight out of Dublin was so early we decided to crash in the basement for a few hours. During the night, another girl we met in the hostel who can talk a mile a minute saw us sleeping. Her social instinct I guess was to wake us up and chat for a few minutes. She is a fun girl to be around otherwise. Hello my precious people! Wanted to get a break of studying for a bit. I tried cramming all the stories in one blog but the road trip went on for more words than any essay I typed in high school. It was a fun trip and there were a lot of memories and stories to look back on. The weekend after I had planned a trip to visit a mutual friend Tom studying in Berlin. I found a cheap EasyJet flight out of Ljubljana which is rare. He was supposed to meet me at the airport but the night before his apartment was broken into and all his expensive electronics were stolen. So after he was done we went and smacked down on a doner which is one of best food items to ever surface this God given Earth. I went ahead and ate another while I was at it but I felt like a balloon afterwards. He started his semester much earlier than me so this was the last weekend I could visit him. So he was reminiscing on Berlin one last time and it just felt like another weekend trip for me. Anyways, the city actually had a different vibe than every other European city. After visiting several cities, it all starts looking the same and they have the same type of layout. However, Berlin has a lot of history and you can see that. You can see how the Berlin Wall had an effect on the city. You can tell it still had areas recovering from the war. We mostly walked around and saw the tourist buildings to see. Then after that we walked some more until we all started complaining about walking. So we solved the problem and went to this delicious dessert restaurant. I got something that had chocolate milk on the bottom then vanilla ice cream on the layer above and boy did that send me back a dimension. It was very much great. They done did good. I also had orange flavored hot chocolate which was very disappointing. We went to a stereotypical German restaurant called Hofbrau for dinner. Everyone had pints of beer and there was lively music playing. A drunken guy even punched one of our friends to put the cherry on top! That night we played some poker with the boys and I won back my money and then some on the very last hand. Overall great day! The next day Tom, one of his friends Zach , and I took a bus to Hamburg. The city itself really impressed me. The buildings and overall vibe of the city was not what I was expecting. It felt very modern unlike Berlin. It was weird but it worked for the night. Then we set off for the festival where we had a couple beers, had a Bratwurst, and listened to some live bands. Typical German fashion. We toured a German U-Boat which was very tight inside and pipes were running everywhere. How people lived in that underwater torpedo is beyond me. We spent the whole day at this festival walking around and seeing different events. One being a tugboat ballet. We decided to go check out this Miniature Wonderland museum and this was my favorite part of the trip. It was two stories of miniature replicas of cities and attractions. Everything was so detailed down to flowers. They had planes, cars, trams, and even planes running in these cities. Yes, they had miniature planes taking off, landing and taxiing around. The aviation nerd in me sat there watching this airport come to life. At the end of the night we watched a stellar firework show. Once again, most awesome day! They are forms of public transportation throughout Germany. They are very quick and efficient ways to get around the city. The next day we just ate at a restaurant and went our separate ways. I flew to Venice and caught a bus to the Ljub. Problem was my plane was delayed 3 hours and I missed my bus so I had to book another one. Since the trip I have mostly hung around Ljubljana which has been nice because it feels like home. Went to Gardaland Italian amusement park which was way better than expected. The park was very clean and the rides were just as thrilling as those at Six Flags. Other than that I sit around my room watching movies and studying. This next week and a half is quite busy with 3 finals and several bigger assignments. Funny Story: The bus for Gardaland left at 4am so I decided to stay up through the night and sleep on the bus. My friend Alex decided to sleep for a couple hours but that proved to be a big mistake. He slept in and missed the bus. I give him a hard time about it now. Welcome back my party people! Luckily for me the week of our spring break we went to sunny places and had good weather a majority of the time but everywhere else in Europe it was gloomy and rainy. So we lucked out and took a trip south and boy it was fun. This blog will mostly recount what we did on the trip so strap in and enjoy the chaos. This past week has been a thrilling soccer week. Plus the urinal at this place is the best thing ever. I think only guys will fully understand how amazing both those reasons are. Anyways, back to soccer. It was the semi-finals for Champions League. On Tuesday we watched Liverpool beat Barcelona and they won the aggregate Crazy last minute surprise corner kick and the place went crazy. The next night was even more hype because Tottenham came back in the second half and scored in the last possible minute to win the aggregate with away goal advantage. Three weeks ago was Spring Break so me and five friends decided to take an 11 day roadtrip down to Greece. Boris decided to come two days prior to leaving. Just dropped everything he had going on for the next week and a half and tagged along. And Boris has the most unique personality in the best way which made it all the better. I would pay good money for a book of his one liners. We planned to view places along the way so we could divide the long hours each day. You could imagine this car was absolutely trashed after the trip. We even scraped the car on a pole but luckily for us we got it from a blind rental car company and they never mentioned anything to us about the gash on the side of the car. First day we went to Krka National Park which is a really beautiful area with stunning waterfalls. I read online that you could swim in the waterfalls but we got there and the water was freezing cold and it technically was closed until June. The next day we drove the coast of Croatia and walked around Dubrovnik. Mostly a driving day and I had already been to Dubrovnik earlier in the year to visit my friend Caleb. Nothing too new but I still enjoyed seeing it again. Driving through Albania was next which we were very skeptical about. Apparently this country is viewed as poor and unsafe. It definitely was different than what we were expecting. The people would stand on the streets with no care in the world. One old man was driving his electric wheelchair in the opposite direction on a roundabout. Other than the people was the scenery which was beautiful. We stayed in north Greece with the sweetest elderly couple who were 80 years old. It was Orthodox Easter so they made us a massive dinner with some amazing food. The couple spoke no English so we were using Google Translate to communicate. The next days was driving to Athens and paying some hefty tolls. We also got stuck at a toll booth for over an hour because it was that congested. Since I had a lot of time to burn I played the game We toured the Acropolis the next day which was really the only cool part of Athens. We took a ferry to Mykonos island where we stayed for a couple days. We had a really cool Airbnb with a balcony overlooking the city and ocean. We cooked ourselves each night and would watch some of the coolest sunsets. These were mostly days to relax and explore around the city which had a really unique style. After Mykonos, it signaled our return trek to Slovenia. We drove to Thessaloniki and once again there were tolls up the yin-yang. This Airbnb was one of the coolest because it was a boat in a harbor. The night was very cool because we watched the sunset from the boat and hung around and talked as well as we ate at a very good restaurant in the harbor. The next morning a buddy and I rented a tennis court and rackets and battled it out in a match. It was good competition but in the end he was the victor. Our last and final night was spent in Belgrade. The place had a jacuzzi so we all piled in and hung around for the night. A great way to end the trip. The last day was spent driving all the way back to Slovenia and boy did it feel nice to be home. We were all exhausted and ready to just sleep for a couple of days. Once I got back, I had the feeling like I was back at home. Slovenia has started feeling like home and a place to just rest and take it easy. Throughout the trip we all split costs and we used this genius app Tricount that kept track of every purchase and who paid for what and in the end it showed who owed what to whom. I really enjoyed playing with the app for some reason and it makes me excited to use it on future trips. Funny Story: Going back to the elderly couple. I can finally bust out my shorts and t-shirts but occasionally you get a cold and rainy day. Also during the night it gets pretty cold so I usually wear shorts in the day and change to jeans at night. I have 4 classes each week: 1 on Monday, 2 on Tuesday and 1 on Wednesday. I usually return on Monday because Sunday transportation is more expensive and plus I get an extra day. However, because of this I have missed my Monday class a couple of times. Aside from classes, Monday night is usually a free night to catch up on things or sometimes I arrive back from a trip really late. Tuesday I have class all day and then I go out to a bar or a club. Wednesday is my favorite class. Wednesday night I will try and find friends to go to a pub and watch some Champions League. My team, Tottenham, keeps advancing by the skin of their teeth so I try and watch all those games. Thursday is usually a chill day or when I leave for a trip. Friday to Sunday is usually spent going places. Like this past weekend I stayed in Slovenia but I still went on day trips. Even though I try and go to other countries, there is still a lot to see here in Slovenia. So last week we had a room inspection to make sure all our rooms were clean. So me and my flat mates tidied up a bit. Apparently the housekeeper has a stick up his butt and deemed our apartment too messy. He called us out on a water stain in the bathroom and some spots around the stove, which I believe is to be expected. But I guess this guy is looking for perfection so we had to spend most of today cleaning to the Nth degree just so he approves when he comes back tomorrow. My dorm is not even the party dorm. If the housekeeper saw Dorm IV then he would have a heart attack. I doubt a broom or scrub has even been used there. I also got a free t-shirt out of all this too. Friday I went with a Spanish group to the small sliver of Slovenian coast. It was much more beautiful than anticipated. We had ice cream and coffee next to the water. Something I try and do in new places is to order ice cream and try new flavors. You can tell a lot about a place based of its ice cream. We walked around trying to find an affordable place for college students to eat most of the time. We are just so used to cheap meals because we all have our student discount. Saturday I went with four other guys to south Austria. We were all crammed into a small compact car and of course I had the middle spot. Really uncomfortable sitting next to two huge guys but I was also the social hub so not too bad. Halfway to the border my friend Mithat and I realized we forgot our passports. We risked it anyways but ended up getting stopped at the border. We had to fill out some paperwork and I was instructed to return back to Slovenia. I told my friends that and the first they did was laugh hysterically. They thought I was joking with them. One of my friends had to ask the border police to confirm what I said was right. They thought all we had to do was sign a piece of paper and we magically get to enter into Austria. We had to figure out a new plan so we decided to go to Lake Bled. They dropped us off and the three guys that had their passports went back to Austria. Later found out the second time they went through the border, no one stopped them to check their documents. Our luck. So Mithat and I just laid next to the lake for awhile. Thought we were gonna swim but the water was way too cold. We walked around the lake listening to music. Smacked down on some food at a restaurant that accepted our student discount. Went into a casino but got kicked out because there was a dress code and we had shorts and t-shirts. Maybe that was a sign that we were gonna lose money anyways. The next few hours were very interesting. We met a very friendly taxi driver named Darko. We talked with him for like 30 minutes and he gave us his card. We wanted to take a bus to Bohinj but it was too late and in the time of deciding that two buses to Ljubljana already left. The next bus was scheduled for 2 hours later. So we ended up making more friends. There were two Slovenians working at a tour agency near the bus station and they let us try out the electric bikes. Came across four girls from America and made friends with them. It got so busy at the bus station that we missed the next two buses and we ended up calling Darko for a shuttle ride. This was easily the best taxi ride. He would talk to all of us and he put on some bumping music. Just think of a club but in taxi form and that was the experience with Darko. Interesting guy but he had a positive outlook on life and I love people like that. Sunday I went with two German girls to the Postonja Caves which is one of the biggest cave systems in the world. Very beautiful and crazy to see how big and intricate caves can be. Close by was Predjama Castle so we went and toured that. After that we went to Trieste, Italy which was nearby. Had some bomb ice cream and watched an amazing sunset. Watching the sunset just kinda gave me a reality shock like this is actually happening. Funny Story: As Darko was driving us back to Ljubljana, he would tell us some funny stories. Hello again my people and welcome back to edition number 4 of this tasty blog. It may come as a surprise to you that I am currently on a bus. Ljubljana the Ljub is centrally located in Europe but it is a small city with just under , people. My hometown Riverside, CA is bigger than that! It is still doable but you just have to start getting creative. A lot of the time you have to just take a long bus or take a bus to a nearby airport for further destinations. And by nearby I mean Vienna, Venice, or Milan, which are all hours away. Sometimes you get lucky and find a kinda cheap flight on Skyscanner out of the Ljub. I can get pretty lost and spent a good chunk of time looking at cheap flights. In my last blog I mentioned I had a quick turn around from one trip to another less than 48 hours and fortunately I accomplished most everything I needed, which was a lot. I walked around for about an hour but was unsuccessful so I went back out the next week and it took another hour to find one. The barber was 19 years old and spoke spotty English as well as all the clippers were in metrics. So you can imagine it was very hard telling him what I wanted. It felt like a fun game because he would cut some off and then I would eyeball whether I liked it or if he should cut more off. That, or my friends lied to me and said it looked good. Out of the past seven weekends I have traveled somewhere on six of them. I felt so tired that it crossed my mind that I might have mono. I looked up the symptoms and all I have encountered so far is tiredness which goes to show I have been on the move more than my body is used to. So next weekend is open and I plan to keep it that way so I can catch up on a few things as well as let my body rest. Or if your more into snail mail then I can send you my address. I liked these smaller towns more than I expected. Two weekends ago, I travelled up north to Brussels and Amsterdam. I went with Megan goes to Kansas University and we usually go on trips together as well as I met up with Caleb and his friends my roommate from OSU studying in Dubrovnik, Croatia when we arrived in Amsterdam. Me and Megan flew into Brussels from the Ljub and our plane was delayed 45 min without any notification which made us miss our prepaid shuttle thanks Wizz Air. The next day we just walked around Brussels and at first it was kinda sketchy but we eventually made our way into downtown. Probably one of my favorite cities. I have fried chicken and Dr. Pepper for the first time while being in Europe so you could say I felt very satisfied. We took a bus to Amsterdam that night and met up with Caleb and his friends. Amsterdam is such a cool and unique city. It surprised me because it almost felt like a Venice with a bunch of canals but also had a very American feel to it, which is a nice blast from the past. Had some interesting people and smelled like week most the time. We did a lot of walking around, eating, and shopping. We also went to an Ice Bar and did the Heineken Experience which were both very cool. I should also mention one fella that stayed in my hostel. He was from Colorado so, to him, Amsterdam just felt like a bigger, better heaven. The guy was always rolling a joint and bought so much weed to where I was actually concerned for his health. The day before he was gonna leave, he had 10 joints and said he would smoke them all by the morning! We also almost missed our flight back to Slovenia but I pulled some strings and barely made it. Unfortunately for me and my many fans, I forgot to take out my camera so the pics you see of Amsterdam are from my phone. Another really cool trip and unlike any of the others. We stayed in an amazing apartment for pretty dang cheap! A lot of what we did was lay on the beach and get sunburned. The island was very beautiful as well as old town had a cool feel to it. It was very hard figuring things out because half the stores and touristy activities were closed. We bought a keg of beer because why not. It was empty long before the 6L water jug I bought. They both were so big we gave them the name Big Momma and Big Bertha, respectively. The next day we had some confusion but ended up turning into a good day because we caught a cab to a really cool beach. It was tucked into a cove and had really blue waters. Our buddy Alex left early because he had to be diligent and study for midterms. So Megan and I just chilled and went to another beach the rest of the time. We left back for Slovenia at 6am this morning and we arrive at 10pm. So yes, the ENTIRE day was spent travelling which shows to go ya that travelling places from the Ljub is difficult but can still be done. But I needed a name so he gave me Mama Pancake. Dober Dan my people! Loving life in Europe more and more. Currently riding a bus back to Ljubljana the Ljub after a hectic day of traveling from Interlaken, Switzerland. Might have to walk again and I leave for Amsterdam in less than 48 hours. Now I have to cram all my catching up to do in two days. I will be missing classes and honestly I could care less. I sound like the worst student but you would understand if you witnessed how long and exhaustive these lectures are. So Ljubljana life has still been treating me well. Love it here! Some places you can get a sandwich or pizza for free. Last weekend was Copenhagen which I enjoyed. I took a nap and woke up late in the afternoon and then decided to watch some March Madness. After 4 games I knew my bracket was busted. I need to stop feeling ambitious and picking upsets. A recipe for disaster. Always good to see some change. Felt like a half mile long with 3 stories and a big food court. I ate a buffet and my water almost costed more than the buffet itself. I also ran into two other American girls studying in Madrid so I just spent the rest of the day with them. We also just walked around and saw more cool places. For those of you that know me, I love board games so it felt surreal to walk around and see all these games. I flew back Saturday morning and just hung around the Ljub the rest of the weekend. Played some soccer Sunday morning and spent the rest of the day and night writing my 7 page paper due the next day. This past weekend I went to Interlaken which has by far been the best trip. Amazing place! I went with an American and Canadian as well as we met up with some more friends when we got there. Real fun group. We left at 2am Thursday morning which sounds like a good idea until you actually do it. The whole day was spent traveling and walking around once we got there. The next day we hiked Harderkulm which was a pretty taxing hike but the view made it worth while. Saturday morning I did something that I have been thinking of before I even came to Europe. I went skydiving and my goodness it felt unreal. Check my Instagram for a video. That night we went to Lake Thun to picnic and watch the sunset. Such an awesome time and an even better sunset. Sunday was spent trekking to Gimmelwald little mountain village. Once again, amazing views. That seemed to be the theme of Switzerland. The pictures attached just confirm everything. We went to a fondue restaurant that night which was fun since my stupid self never knew what fondue was. We finished off the weekend with some hot tubbing and hanging around the hostel. The hostel was amazing as well. It had free breakfast, game room, hammock room, its own club, hot tub, kitchen which we used since Switzerland is expensive , and other cool stuff. The weekend had so many cool stories and unreal pictures that I just had to summarize everything. Its been just over a month here in the quaint country of Slovenia. Still love it here! I was reminded how thankful I am to be here after visiting other cities and realizing how difficult it would be to live there. Some things never change. However, the games start later in the day for me so I will have to stay up late to watch most of the them. A last minute trip I decided to go on and have some time to myself. So plans changed and we will see what I actually end up doing. I mentioned in my last blog that my phone situation was impossible to figure out. Well, it still feels like that. Apparently you need to establish residence in order for EU roaming to work so I had to apply for a tax number. I had given up and accepted the fact that I would just have to put my Verizon SIM card in whenever I left the country. Well I finally figured out the solution a few hours ago. I literally just had to change the network name and it worked like a charm. I was very relieved but also kinda pissed because it was such a simple solution. Two weekends ago I went on a trip where we visited Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest. My favorite city was definitely Budapest. Cool atmosphere and a lot of really cool buildings. Vienna was a mix of everything and not what I expected but still enjoyed it. Bratislava felt like a bigger Ljubljana. It also has a castle on a hill and the same type of buildings. The group I was with definitely made the trip all the more fun. Everyone was from a different part of the world. We left for the trip at 5am so I was expecting to just sleep on the bus but I have never ridden on a bus so uncomfortable. So I barely got any sleep. I decided to stay in Ljubljana last weekend and do a few day trips. I went skiing which I can cross off my bucket list. Amazing experience. You had to take a gondola up to the resort which took around 45 minutes. Yea kinda long and boring. As well as there were no trees that you can ski through which I typically enjoy doing. The next day I went to Bled with a couple friends. One of the most beautiful places. If you ever are near Slovenia I highly recommend. But make sure to book your bus ticket far in advance because we ended up leaving in the afternoon and some of us had to sit on the floor. Then I went hiking to Smarna Gora which is a great day hike with a good view of Ljubljana. I woke up that morning with a sore throat so maybe hiking aggravated my cold into what it is now. They just sit in my closet waiting to be worn. It actually takes me like 5 minutes just to realize it was a dream. So this is my 1st blog. This one might be longer than the ones in the future. We will just go with the flow. I hope to make these blogs as transparent as possible. I also find it quite funny that I chose to write a blog rather than start a 7 page paper that is due in a few weeks. I feel like my dad whenever he writes the annual newsletter. I hope to recall all the way back to when I started my journey back in California. Packing was interesting. I had to switch to the bigger suitcase and had my mom help. Idk how I forgot a comb because I already have two of them back home well now three. The plane ride on Norwegian was 5 star service for a 2 star price. I landed in Paris and I have never been in Europe, let alone by myself. So I had no clue what to do and I was carrying 2 large suitcases, my backpack, and then my pillow awww I love that pillow all while being dressed like an American tourist. So some taxi driver targeted me and I overpaid for a ride into the city. I started planning in my head what I would do if he deviated course or if he pulled on the side of an empty road but fortunately he brought me to where I asked. I basically stayed in my hostel the whole time because I was overwhelmed with being in Europe and I was very jet lagged. So yea…. After a few days I flew to Slovenia. I paid 10 Euro for a shuttle at the airport which made me feel even worse about paying First impression was different than I expected. Kinda run down and small. But the next morning I walked around and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Figuring things out was the hardest. Like how to get around and how my phone would work. The first week here was difficult but I started getting the hang of everything. I figured out where to shop, how to get around, my phone well at least I thought I did , and I finally ate at a restaurant! The first time I went to a restaurant was by myself and I looked like a dog without an owner: completely lost. Once again I live and learn. I have also tried to see a lot. I went to Venice my first weekend because some friends were going. So basically I never met up with my friends and my bus left the day after theirs. Good job Andrew. But I got to spend another day in Venice by myself so it was worth it. I really enjoyed just riding the water taxi. I also went to another island called Lido and sat on a beach and read there. Very peaceful and nice. It was a 14 hour bus ride each way which made me realize I spent more than a full day on a bus. What a sad life to live. I stopped in Zagreb where I walked around the city. It was cool to just walk around and see how everything works but it seemed like every other big city. I was confused, as was he because I had mine and then he proceeded to tell me I slept through both borders. As far as Slovenia life, I usually will go into the city center at night. Getting there is easy because I just take a bus or a rental bike. The bus stops runs less frequent or not at all after 11pm so getting back late at night can be difficult. I wrote all this last week but never posted it. I mainly use my camera when I go on trips so if you wanna see those pics some of them will be here. Whereas the pics on my Instagram are just some I snap real quick on my phone. Skip to content. Home Contact. This is the same day when we first met up with my parents. We ended up renting canoes at Bohinj and rode around a bit. This is at Lake Bled and it gets prettier the more you go. My dad actually took this picture which he is pretty good at so you might see some more from him. You can see just how reflective the water is and the mountains around it. This is our snorkeling adventure in Pula. To get into this cave we had to swim underneath a rock for about 10ft. Also a funny timed picture because my dad has a jelly head. This was a restaurant that had bamboo and vines running everywhere and there were swings and tables all throughout the place. In Pula there is this cool looking colosseum. This is the view from the restaurant we ate at. The other direction is a beautiful sunset. Told you it was very nice. This is the view from our Airbnb in the small Austrian town. Pretty isolated with an amazing view. This is the Steve Aoki concert. This is Hallstatt. A cute little town on the side of the lake. However, this place is essentially a tourist trap. Way too many asians and tour buses. Another picture of Gausasee from the other side of the lake. There was a stream that came out of the middle of the mountain in the background. You can see Prague Castle in the background. Also the famous Charles Bridge is on the left. The castle is so intricately designed. There were a lot of statues and stained glass windows. Also a cool sunset in the background. Had to throw the selfie in. This is at Heroes Square. Decided to stroll through Ljubljana one last time. This is looking away from downtown Stockholm. To the right is a small hill where we watched the sunset. This was a really cool church in the middle of downtown. I sat in here for 30 min just listening to some guy play Swedish worship songs on the trumpet. Sunset overlooking downtown Stockholm. It stayed light until around midnight so it looked like this for the entire hour and half we were there. Really beautiful park next to our port in Helsinki. We walked around and bought a few gifts with the little time we had. Fun Fact: Finland is actually the biggest consumer of coffee per person. We went to a lake just outside of town and hiked around it. Decided to stop at this point and take a few pics. This was our Boeing hostel. As you can see, the 4 engines were also rooms. Amazing to see how beautiful the Cliffs of Moher are. Some points are ft above the water. You know it was coming. The famous selfie. They would jump on the makeshift wave for about seconds and then fall off to keep the flow of other surfers going. Fun to watch especially when guys do tricks. This is a close up of Ljubljana but you can see miles of Slovenian countryside. Came across this gem of a view on our hike around the lake in Sweden. This is the Brandenburg Gate. One of the checkpoints to cross from one side of the wall to the other. What a specimen of tastiness. The hot chocolate on the other hand was doodoo. Very cool to be able to go inside. I wanted to get out after 20 minutes of being in there. We could barely even stand up because of how close quarters everything was. This was our hostel for the night. The window would open up and a plane would come flying through and land. The arrival and departure times were exact to Hamburg Airport. The sunrise in Ljubljana. Very rarely am I awake to witness a sunrise so I forget just how amazing they are. This is from Gardaland. There was some optical illusion ride inside this treehouse and it had me tripping. This was the van that we drove all our miles in. All six of us crammed in there including our luggage. This was taken at a restaurant on one of the beaches we visited on Mykonos. The guys go me, Boris then Alex. The girls go Marine, Megan, then Michele. This is Krka National Park. Stunning waterfalls and streams. Below these waterfalls are where we could swim. This is the view from the restaurant we ate at in Albania. It was a lot more beautiful than anticipated as well as the food was very cheap. We would eat dinner and watch the sunset from our balcony. Some of my favorite moments from the trip. Here the selfie is! This time in front of the Parthenon. This is the dinner we had with the cute old couple. This was a really cool experience having an authentic Greek dinner with great company. This was the sunset from the ferry we took to Mykonos. This is Mykonos in the background. Very beautiful city especially walking through the streets. The buildings and sidewalks were white. This is how we travelled the island. I was on the back of the scooter with Boris. Our friends made fun of us because to keep our balance I needed to hug him close from behind. They said it was like Jack and Rose from Titanic. This is the view from our Airbnb in the harbor. Quite a surprise and definitely some fun memories. This is Bulgaria scenery. Gloomy but still cool. This was a castle on top of a hill overlooking Piran. Thought the flowers added a good touch. You knew the selfie was coming. Kinda looks like the chase scene from Aquaman. Lake Bled looked even prettier a month after I went the first time. It was warmer and everything was more colorful. I gave Mithat my camera and told him to snap a pic. This is what Predjama Castle looks like. Half of it is literally built in a cave. Really unique. This is the view from the castle overlooking the valley. This is Trieste. Has the Italian vibe but not as much as other parts of Italy. Still a cool city. And again the selfie. This was on a big long stone pier that we went and sat on for a while. This is that unreal sunset I mentioned. These are the moments you look back on. Brussels had a really cool atmosphere as well as a lot of cool buildings and statues. We enjoyed just walking around. Brussels is cooler than you think. Seems like something you would find in Paris. Funky looking modern building, huh? These are what the canals in Amsterdam looked like. Prettier than I expected. Aside from the canals, Amsterdam had a bunch of narrow alleys. This is Skofja Loka. This is Old Town Ibiza. To the right is a marina with a lot of sailboats and yachts. We hiked up to a castle that overlooked Old Town. Once again, amazing view! I also got ice cream there just a thing I do whenever I go places and I got milk flavor. Sounded interesting so I tried it and actually tasted really good. This was a church on a small hill. Thought the tree blossoming and the church were a good combo. Back at it again with the selfie looking over an edge. I need to make a compilation of these at the end of my study abroad. This was the blue beach in a cove we went to on Sunday. Testing out the self timer on my camera. Thought it should at least make an appearance in the blog. Another picture of Brussels I had to include. This was in a square of a lot of other cool buildings like these. Very fun to just walk down. Nyhavn was a cool little area. If you look up pictures of Copenhagen this is one of the top results. This windmill was in some military barracks. The area was very picturesque. Just a cool castle we stumbled across. It had a moat and fence around the perimeter. Believe it or not, this was the view of my hostel. This was the weather a majority of my time while visiting. It may not seem like it in this picture but it was common to see a group of a hundred bikes go by within a minute. There was a big park in the middle of Interlaken which was nice to walk around. You could watch all the paragliders come into land on the grass field. I love taking these kinds of pictures. Im standing on the corner of a lookout point which actually made me kinda scared. It hangs over the mountain and in that corner specifically you could feel the platform shaking. Thought this picture was so cool! While on our hike a paraglider came within ft of us. Cool view on our hike up to Gimmelwald. There were several waterfalls coming off the side of the mountain like the one on the right of the picture. It was a small valley with green fields surrounded by huge mountains all around. Now how amazing is this sunset! A couple nights we took a bus to Lake Thun and had a picnic while we watched the sunset. We had to take a tram up to Gimmelwald which is this small mountain town with quaint little houses. It was about 60 degrees Fahrenheit while we were up there but yet there was still snow on the ground so we were very lucky to have come on an amazing weather weekend. This was a cool park in the middle of Vienna. Funny to watch. Cool statue with the sunset behind it. If you recognized, this is the same one as my Instagram post with my friends. This is the Slovakian National Theater. It was in the middle of an open square. This is the Parliament building in Budapest. We went on a boat tour so we got to see a lot of cool buildings from the Danube River. I just like this picture. I took it while on the Budapest Eye. The church in Lake Bled. One of the many amazing views here. Old Town Ljubljana. I happened to stumble across this beach on Lido island. I would just sit in the front of the water taxi and take pics of the Grand Canal. Cool pic of the gondolas and restaurants at night. The cathedral in Zagreb. Another cool pic of Venice because I got too many of them. Subscribe Subscribed. Andrew's Slovenian Blog. Sign me up.
