While the walls were largely destroyed during the war, some fragments have been preserved, so you can still spot some leftover pieces and have a walk around them, or even on them. Views of the Old Town on one side, modern skyline on the other — the observation deck provides a spectacular panorama of Warsaw. It has been traversed by kings, diplomats, and distinguished visitors throughout the centuries. Continue your stroll until you spot a big white building on your left side , with a big statue in the middle and soldiers guarding it. As the name suggest, it serves as the official residence of the President of Poland. The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier stands as a solemn and touching tribute to the countless soldiers who sacrificed their lives in defense of Poland. It holds the remains of an unidentified soldier, representing all those who perished in wars fought on Polish soil. Since the tomb is guarded continuously by soldiers, you might be lucky and witness a ceremonial changing of the guard. It happens every hour on the hour. Yes, you read it correctly. There is a palm tree in Warsaw. If you spot a big roundabout with a palm tree sticking out of it , it means that you reached your destination. The palm tree on Charles De Gaulle roundabout was placed there as a temporary art installation and a symbol of cultural exchange. Located on 30th floor, the terrace can be reached in only 19 seconds by taking an elevator. Visiting the Place of Culture is a must-do thing when in Warsaw. When I went there for the first time, I thought I discovered a super cool hidden gem. But the roof garden of Warsaw University Library provides a green escape in the heart of the city and still remains one of my favourite places in Warsaw. The University of Warsaw Library roof garden is one of the largest roof gardens in Europe. The garden boasts a diverse collection of plant species and series of granite sculptures. Its lush environment makes it a great place to unwind and relax after a busy day. During summer the gardens close at 8 pm, so that gives you plenty of time for to enjoy some peace and quiet. The Vistulan Boulevards are a picturesque stretch along the left bank of the river.
