I thoroughly enjoyed reading the epic job the author has done in putting all of our family's genealogy, history, migrations and the thorough analysis of the land grants in the seven volume set. Many articles have been written for the Hispanic Genealogical Research Center of New Mexico by members mentioning how New Mexicans who descend from the original settlers are all related. But the author is the only one, and the first one, who actually put it all together, factually, logically and analytically in book form to show how indeed the New Mexico original settlers formed marriages, unions, and relationships to constitute the surviving descendants of today, and how we are intricately related to the majority of the populace in what is now New Mexico. Snow did the same thing on the original Onate colonists; and, Marc Simmons, a true scholar, focuses usually on one topic with good results. But this author, Gilbert Maldonado, took on this huge task of laying out and proving the relationships that everybody just seems to mention in passing.
