Forecast today: Generally clear. This has added more advanced terrain to the ski area, which is one of the most varied in the Aosta Valley and is renowned for holding on to great snow conditions due to its northerly orientation. In addition to this, the scenery is stunning and includes views of the Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Mont Blanc. The former mining town has expanded tastefully and the old centre is attractive. New developments have spread along the valley, but most accommodation is located within an easy walk from the Bosco Express or the Les Suches gondola. Food options are excellent and there are some cosy bars, all which boast affordable prices — it is certainly cheaper here than over in France. The km of snowsure slopes offer something for almost everyone, with the only thing lacking a good network of gentle blues for beginners and less confident intermediates. The local terrain is fantastic for intermediates upwards and the slopes on the Italian side are definitely steeper than their French counterparts. Good on piste challenges can be found on piste 3 F. Berthod and on piste 5 Muret , which drop steeply through the trees towards the resort. It is tucked away deep into the Aosta Valley, meaning fewer weekend visitors drop in, making the resort a relaxed and peaceful place. Try and base yourself near the lifts if possible to make your stay as convenient as it can be. The lift pass includes two days in other Aosta resorts — buses run to nearby Courmayeur and Pila is nearby. Both trips take around two hours.
