Aonach Mor start Sophie looking forward to the climb Hilary as climb begins Sophie about to take the win Slippy conditions! Hilary approaching finish. The course climbs the Mountain Bike World Cup downhill course, so plenty of slippy rock steps etc to scramble over, but luckily no mountain bikers hurtling down at the same time! Sophie had a great run to win the race 13th overall by a minute. Bartosz was 33rd and Hilary got the 3rd Over 60 prize. A recommended race with soup and prize-giving at the cafe at the finish followed by a ride in the gondola back to the bottom. Results here. The final Journal of is available online here. As usual, my last-minute pleas for content were answered and I think this edition is an excellent way to end and ring in I already have a few things for the Spring Edition but it is never too early to start writing. People who have paid for hard copies in will get them this week or next week depending on postal strikes. This was to be a special year as there has been a change of Club President, and traditionally the incoming President sumo wrestles the outgoing President for the Presidential UnderPants…. With old pubs closing, changing into supermarkets and student flats, Jim had devised a new route on the south west side of Edinburgh. After holing a swift half we headed along the canal to Fountain Park and McGowans Brewhouse, a modern gastropub where we lubed ourselves with Beavertown Neck Oil. With spirits lifted it was back onto the runway lights along the canal to The Kilted Pig, now known as Foundation? Being a hill running club we ascended the dizzy heights of Craiglockart Hill, and in the shelter of the trees, Jim produced a bottle of Goldshlager which seemed to have a warming effect on everyone. The numbers started to dimmish from this point, but the highlight of the night was still to come; new President Lennon sumo wrestling ex-President Hartree for the Presidental Pants on the spot of The Hanging Stanes in the middle of Braid Road. A very apt location as this was the site of one of the last public hangings in Scotland of two Irish immigrants on January 25 Soiled underpants passed over we continued downhill to the Morningside Glory, Hermitage Bar and President Lennon treated us to full pints. I think the evening started to go downhill from here. Being refused service, we continued onto McLarens on the Corner, with the best bar staff of the night, so good, we stayed for two pints. Now it was past midnight, so we scuttled along the fairway back to the Golf Tavern, but last orders had been called. Special thanks to Jim for devising the route and shepherding us along, and thanks to everyone for coming along and having a jolly time. Merry Christmas to one and all. Well done to Claire for a substantial win in very tricky conditions. Both Chris and Elsepth managed to stay injury free all year and complete the full 12 handicaps. Elspeth ran the last two in the dark and in the snow to show honourable commitment to completism. Will anyone have a go in ?? Thanks again and see you next year Jan 2nd. Be nice to get a decent turnout if folk are still off work! The Steading at Hillend, Saturday 10 December, in the morning: twelve runners plus one dog begin their run to West Linton. Freezing temperatures, snow softly falling. Organiser Alan Renville had warned everyone to dress for the cold, but two of us ran in shorts and the dog found even that too much! Made me feel like a wuss. We had a magical run, the landscape quickly becoming beautifully white and we all enjoyed it tremendously. It was not easy with the narrow slippery paths I saw both Alan and John falling at least once , and near Carlops my wobbly knees gave out so I had to drop down to the main road to take a bus back. As to what happened next … I hope someone else will tell us about the remainder of the run and the next leg from West Linton to Peebles, that must have been brilliant too! I had a good camera with me but wanted to keep my gloves on so took only six pictures: two at the Steading, two at the crossing of Boghall Burn and two in the snowy landscape just above Nine Mile Burn. This edition contains all the non-Corbetts stuff left out of the previous edition and a few new items. Fantastic tales of adventure and fun. Everything we like to read about on a cold rainy day. I have one more edition to go for So please get me something by Monday, December 12th next week! Results are here and include Alex McVey, 2nd overall, and Hilary Spenceley 2nd Over 60, as well as Carnethy winning the male team category and now leading after two races. Sean Walker. The rest of your stats for ! Mairi Brown. People who have paid for hard copies will get them soon. Next Page ». Click to view Confirmation of insurance pdf Policy Schedule pdf.
