My car had a tyre blowout on the motorway approximately 2 months ago - it was a new tyre, Capital, that had been fitted 3 weeks prior. It exploded with no warning, and I was lucky to escape with just some damage to the front bumper of the car no other cars involved. I was not able to keep hold of the blown tyre at the time, and a new one had to be fitted asap at the nearest centre so that I was able to get home. I have now been told by my insurer that there is not enough evidence for me to claim my losses back, despite sending in pictures of the tyre and the tow truck report of the tyre. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any other way I could prove that the tyre caused the accident? Is it normal for a 3-week old tyre to blow out on the motorway? Of course its not normal for a 3 week old tyre to blow out on the motorway, if it was the hard shoulder would be littered with cars waiting for new tyres. Most tyres bought never have a problem but they do have a very hard life. Its very easy to pick up debris, get a slow punture and without spotting it the tyre overheats and blows out. Occationally tyres will have manufacturing defects, its unavoidable with any product and that can also lead to a blow out. The brand you bought is an 'economy tyre', is there any history of problems with their products? But as for claiming off your insurance why would you want to do that, your excess will probably be more than a new tyre, I know mine is probably nearer 2 tyres.
