A drug dealer who used encrypted chats to source high value drugs from a mystery supplier using the moniker 'Keegan' has been jailed. Lee Morrow was buying and selling large amounts of cocaine and heroin using the Encrochat communications network, which was infiltrated by police, revealing a rich seam of evidence in messages which criminals thought would remain hidden from the authorities. Now he has been jailed at Newcastle Crown Court after admitting conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin. The court heard Keegan, who was higher up the chain than Morrow, has not yet been identified. The messages show Keegan was reluctant to supply Morrow with more drugs at one point until the debt was cleared. Morrow then tried to source drugs from other Encrochat users before returning to Keegan. In April , he was supplied with a kilo of heroin by a user called 'Peas and Gravy', working on behalf of Keegan. The following month, he was supplied with nine ounces of cocaine and his old schoolfriend, Jamie Richardson, collected the drugs on his behalf. On another occasion, Richardson acted as a cash courier. Morrow, 36, of Benton Road, Longbenton , North Tyneside , who has 18 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin and was jailed for eight-and-a-half years. Richardson, 37, of Northumberland Terrace, Byker , Newcastle , who has 13 previous convictions, pleaded guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of cocaine and was sentenced to 23 months suspended for 21 months with hours unpaid work. Richard Bloomfield, for Morrow, said he is remorseful and has been doing courses in prison and repairing bikes for a children's charity. Glenn Gatland, for Richardson, said: 'He is not in the Premier League, Championship league or any other league - he is right at the bottom, he is not the Encrochat man and he didn't make any money from this. He is the man who was asked to help his friend. Mr Gatland said Richardson's mental health has deteriorated, his partner is pregnant and he cares for his terminally ill mother.
