Buying blow Langebaan

Spilling along the shores from glorious Langebaan Lagoon into wide Saldanha Bay, the little West Coast town of Langebaan is a favourite weekend and holiday destination for Capetonians and overseas visitors. Everything you need is right here and you still have the small-town feeling. Permanent residents enjoy the changes between the seasons. In summer, the winds blow all the spider webs away from your head as you walk on the beach. Kitesurfers come from all over the world to take advantage of the summer winds, colouring the sky and providing a spectacle with their acrobatics. Beautiful Shark Bay, overlooking the lagoon, is a favourite swimming spot for locals. Visitors can also venture deeper into the West Coast National Park to enjoy a deserted beach where they can have picnics while the kids play safely in the shallow waters. There are plenty of mountain biking and hiking trails to explore inland among the fynbos, you can play golf or tennis, go deep-sea fishing, or just stroll along the beach to one of the many casual seafood restaurants and bars. Being an ex-Gautenger, I love to be by the sea. Langebaan is perfect, pretty, with caring people, peaceful and quiet. We do get very busy during season, but the peace and quiet after the holidays always makes up for it. What can Langebaan offer potential buyers, renters and holidaymakers in terms of lifestyle? There are a variety of properties available for buyers and renters, from new developments, single room lets, vacant stands, smallholdings, golf and security estates, to high-end homes, including luxury beachfront properties. Holidaymakers and residents can expect to have a fantastic time whether enjoying water sports on the lagoon, trying their luck at the casino, horse riding, visiting the West Coast National Park, the vibrant restaurants and bars, or just relaxing on one of the many beaches. Pick n Pay has been the mall's long-standing anchor tenant and will soon be joined by new Checkers and Woolworths stores, opening in November, followed by Ackermans and Pep, opening in December, as well as several other new retail outlets. This is a relaxed family mall with a spacious single-storey layout and plenty of parking. View the widest selection of property for sale in Langebaan on Private Property. Buying blow Langebaan

It is situated on the west coast of South Africa, km north of Cape Town. The smallholding was originally purchased for a very different reason originally. My horse - Maggia, see photo in photo album, contracted a severe hoof injury infection caused by a suspected nail prick deep into the hoof and I was advised that she would not recover from the injury, or at best would only ever be paddock sound for the rest of her life. During the period of her recovery I was trying to come to terms with where I could retire her so she could spend her time doing what horses do. I looked arround and found the property advertised as Langemeer Equestrian Estate. During the period of purchase and transfer about 7 months she had recovered fully and is now 25years old born and still looks like a filly. The olive estate was conceived through my need to now utilise the ground with hopefully a harvestable product that hypothetically required the minimum of maintenance and care little did I know! The first Mission olive trees were purchased from Stargrow Nurseries in Citrusdal www. The general area is well populated with a small buck species and every effort is made by the property owners to allow them free access to all parts, this unfortunatly led them to cultivating a liking for fresh new growth olive leaves. The trees suffered severe damaged by the buck and growth over the first 18 months was minimum. A fence was erected arround the 1 hectacre where the trees are planted and normal growth has been experienced since. In a further Mission, Frantoio and Manzanilla tress were planted. The Frantoio were planted randomly between the existing trees to act as pollinators. Due to the very heavy southerly winds that blow during the summer months, the past 2 years, has led me to the conclusion that the best arrangement of planting was to hedge the tree planting. I made the decision to plant a tree between every existing tree, giving a 5x1. Open all Close all. Olive Harvest - Monday, March 17, The crazy southerly winds are just stripping the olives off the trees. Here's hoping that we will be able to still get a decent harvest this year. Gape Harvest - Monday, March 17, The birds left us some grapes to harvest this year. Fermentation is complete so the first racking will take place soon. We can proudly say that they are both growing well Olive Trees Budding!! Single arm cordon developing nicely Vine Pruning - Thursday, September 06, The vineyard pruning has been completed on Saturday1st September. Will continue with the 1 arm approach as it appears to be effective. Spring Flowers!! It is worth the time to drive out to view this color carpet of daisies!! Made the decision to remove the south pointing arm of the vine as the wind damages the new growth that faces or grows into the southerly winds Straw Wine - Friday, May 20, Getting ready to bottle the first wine from grapes grown and harvested in Longacres Country Estate. Straw wine has been made from kg of Muscat blanc d'Aleexandria. The grapes were laid out to sun dry for 1 week, pressed by foot and barrel fermented. The vines are on Paulson rootstock, the Semillon vines are doing very well on the same rootstock Rotivated ground for sowing - Monday, May 10, Rotivated about sqm ground for the sowing of oats to give some cover to the bare ground - the first winter rains have arrived. Hopefully the oats can double up as grazing Earth Moving - Thursday, February 11, The front entarnce walls and piers and dwarf walls were completed this last week and the excess soil leveled and built up arround the building, eliminating the step from ground to floor level Olives and Vines - Tuesday, October 13, Olive trees are starting to flower, cleaned between all rows with grass cutter. Moles are a huge problem. Am in the process of erecting an Owl box. Vines are growing well majority are at the cordon line with some up at the next set of wires. Have been keeping the weeds under control by mowing regularly Vines - Bud Burst - Friday, September 25, The Semillon plantings even the new plantings are in full bud burst will some vines at the 2 leaf stage. The Sauvignon Blanc vines are mostly at the 'swollen bud' stage. Building Has Started!!! The footings were cast on the 20th and brickwork started on Monday 24th August Soil Preparation for 2nd Block Of Vines - Tuesday, July 07, Earth works started on Saturday 4th July for the planting of an additional Sauvignon Blanc and 50 Semillon vines - see Albumn for photo's New Year - Wednesday, January 14, Have been doing selective pruning of growth and removal of young grape bunches, I have been suprised at the number of bunch up to 6 that the young vines have produced. The olive trees that were planted in and have done realy well. The experiment not to stake the trees seems to have produced a young tree wilh a thicker stem capable of suporting it's self without being blown flat. Last years planting Manzanilla trees are doing exceptionally well. Although they flowered they never kept a single olive, unlike the Mission trees that have kept a few olives. The 'harvest' yeilded about 12 kg of olives. The picking was done over 2 week-ends in June The olives are currently being proceed for table use. I have not staked them and they appear to be developing nice sturdy stems and side branches. They have grown out above the grass between the rows. They have been on 1 hour of water every 4th day since summer. Just started planting the vineyard! Friday 5th Sept found first 2 vines with bud burst!! Semillon Vines. Login Monday, October 21, LongAcre Olives. We can proudly say that they are both growing well. Olive Trees Budding!! Vine Pruning - All vines pruned on Saturady 27th July Single arm cordon developing nicely. Grape Harvest - Tuesday, February 14, Daturday 28th January - cut all grapes off the vives as the birds started to cause damage. Made the decision to remove the south pointing arm of the vine as the wind damages the new growth that faces or grows into the southerly winds. Bud Burst on Vines and Flowers on Olives - Monday, September 06, Vines are showing bud break and most of the older olive trees are in full flower, here is hoping the wind stays away long enough to allow fruit set. The vines are on Paulson rootstock, the Semillon vines are doing very well on the same rootstock. Rotivated ground for sowing - Monday, May 10, Rotivated about sqm ground for the sowing of oats to give some cover to the bare ground - the first winter rains have arrived. Hopefully the oats can double up as grazing.
