Min stay requested: No minimum. What's this? We have been living here for three years already! We would love to get some help in the garden, renovating the house or furniture, building something new, cooking, and general maintenance. Our house is almost years old, and we live a really simple and humble life here. We also own a flat around 5km away from us, where you can take a normal shower and do laundry. I'm interested in jewelry, sewing, dyeing with plants, gardening, permaculture, and herbalism. My newest interest is bouldering rock climbing , so I try to go to the climbing gym at least a few times a month. I graduated from a few craft schools and have some knowledge in jewelry and sewing. I'm more interested in sewing, and now I'm trying my luck in social media, sharing my creations. You can check my insta: ask me for the link. I have organized quite a few things in my life, including festivals, camps, music events, etc. Fun fact: I have written a lot of poetry in my teen years! He is interested in books, health and fitness, building, and really interested in music, definitely a melomaniac and has a big collection of CDs, tapes, and vinyls. He plays bass, accordion, guitar Gytis's work is to make music instruments steel tongue drums , and we together go to fairs a lot to sell them. You can check it out online: ask us for the link He also graduated in electronics engineering and tried his hands at making some electronic instruments and would love to do this more! Oh, and film photography, during his study years, he participated in a film photography club, developing and printing his photos. We live in a splendid place surrounded by a forest and a river with amazing cliffs. You can hike around a lot, go on bicycle trips, or go swimming and canoeing several routes available. And we have a lot of amazing friends which we meet up quite often and have a splendid time jamming, dancing, singing or hiking! We quite often travel to festivals or any other events, so we could take you with us! Time is flexible - you can choose which time of the day you would like to help us and manage your hours as you wish. We can discuss the day schedule once you get here. Help in the garden includes weeding, harvesting, and preserving the harvest, watering, mowing the grass, etc. Foraging plants for teas or dyeing I'm interested in dyeing with plants. Help in the house involves cleaning, doing the dishes, bringing water, and cooking. You can also assist with building an outside shower or other building projects, renovating old furniture, sanding, painting, etc. If you have any skills in building, this would be a big help as I'm clueless Gytis has more knowledge. This host offers a language exchange We both speak English and Lithuanian well. I do speak russian a bit, learned at school, i guess my level is: it's hard to talk, but i could get out of most situations. I also do duolingo, japanese, so i only have very very basic knowledge of it. Gytis learned german at school, and even the knowledge rusty he has a bit of basics. It's a big shared room, approximately half of our house; we will live in another half. We have lots of mattresses to share and can provide linen and towels. It's also possible to live outside in tents if you would like more personal space; we have two big ones. At most for now we only had a few people share the room. Shared kitchen, compostable toilet, and a river a minute walk away. We usually use some little or big baths outside to wash ourselves properly, or we go to a flat in the nearest village. There's no running water in our house. Come and live the experience with us! Meals are included - we are flexitarians, we rarely eat meat. We've noticed we don't want to eat that much in the warmer season, so we usually eat twice a day around AM and PM. This way, we can also do intermittent fasting. If this doesn't suit you, we always try to make more so there are leftovers available at any time, or we can make when someone wants sth. Everyone eats according to their needs. Transport: The nearest village Upninkai with a shop is km away, Jonava town is 30 km, and both Vilnius and Kaunas are about an hour away from us with a car. We can give bicycles, and if needed we can give you a ride. I myself usually hitchhike if needed, but if you don't prefer it, there is busses and trains from Jonava. Local sights: Dubiai mound, Sukiniai mound, historical Vepriai village, several springs, forests, river cliffs We have wifi, and it works pretty ok. I believe it could vary depending on the time of the day or the itself :. Big garden, lots of space to choose. There is a plot there we have electricity plug in available outside as well. We have a very friendly 10 years old dog : He gets along well with female dogs, with boys not that much, it depends. He is still very active when going for walks. No cats allowed here.. And you'll need some protection from ticks for your dog, because we live next to forest. These are extra optional ratings when members leave feedback. It was incredibly easy having Maksim stay with us for almost three months. He was a tremendous help, especially during the busy summer when we were working and traveling a lot. Maksim has a great 'see the job, do the job' attitude, often surprising me with tasks he noticed and completed on his own. He was independent and self-sufficient, always ready to lend a hand when needed. We also had some great conversations, and he was eager to connect and communicate, making him a pleasure to have around. Overall, Maksim was the ideal helper—reliable, proactive, and considerate. It was such an immersive experience for me and helped me understand more about my Lithuanian roots. The home is absolutely stunning. Gardening and cleaning felt really calm and productive and we shared a lot of stories. I am vegan as well and they were very accommodating. On the last day, we stopped to meet a really kind neighbour and also got to see some puppies, chickens and a super friendly vietnamese pig. I am so grateful for having spent time with everyone here. I don't think I have felt so close to peace and joy in a very long time. Would recommend to anyone! Left by host for Workawayer Hannah. Hosting Hannah was a wonderful experience! We met at a festival where I was volunteering, and she stayed during the event and afterward. We then headed back to my home, bringing my friend along with us. Coincidentally, when Gytis had to go to Vilnius on the same day Hannah was heading back, I decided to join them, and we all went to a climbing gym together. They are such warm, friendly people who show incredible generosity. They made me feel right at home! By the end of my time staying here, I felt extremely healthy and happy - I had eaten such good food mostly from next to their house! Jo even gave cutting the grass with a scythe a try! We also enjoyed playing a fun … read more board game and had some great conversations. I wish them the best and hope we will meet again someday. I highly recommend hosting them! Left by Workawayer Philippe for host. First, I'm sorry to reply belatedly to Ruta and Gytis 's feedback because I spent a very good time with them. Philippe stayed with us for two weeks at the end of August, during which he was immensely helpful. He tackled various physical tasks like chopping wood, mowing the … read more grass, and weeding the garden. We also went to forage some oregano on the other side of the river. The house is actually in the forest which is such a nice feeling. I can also mention they are passionnated characters, Ruta is a garden expert, and Gyris makes some handmade special kind of drums in his workshop next to the house. All this time I learned quite a lot about plants and nature, as well as Lithuanian culture. The couple is very open to conversations and questions, and most of all, I enjoyed our meals and talks together, as well as the walks in nature -- the area really is beautiful, it's right in the middle of a forest that's surrounded by a river. The water is within walking distance, you can always pass by and maybe go for a swim -- just be sure to take the dog with you ; he's very friendly, eager and energetic, and will be happy to tag along!
