When you think about destinations and what you want on the top of your list when visiting Australia. Uluru is definitely going to be one of the places that appears on that list. This sandstone monolith is one of the natural wonders of the world. The closest town of any decent population size is Alice Springs km away. Many people will fly in here to begin their journey. Car hire and tours are both available for departure from here. Another option is to fly direct into Ayers rock airport. Options here are also likely to be more expensive because of the remoteness. Uluru is best viewed at Sunrise and sunset. If you arrive in the afternoon that will give you enough time to walk around the base of Uluru itself. Afterwards you can find a good view point to take in the changing colours at sunset. We recommend one of the viewing platforms between Kata Tjuta and Uluru for a different perspective. The Walpa Gorge walk and Valley of the winds walk are both great options to explore between the domes. Kings Canyon is a spectacular spot to walk as well. The six kilometre circuit will take you to the garden of eden. An enchanting rock hole surrounded by plants. As you walk around the top of Kings Canyon enjoy the degree views of the surrounding area. Members and non-members approved by members can stay at the person lodge throughout the year. Built in , the lodge has nine bedrooms spread across two levels, with a large communal kitchen, lounge room and dining room upstairs. Downstairs, it has a games room with a pool table, second TV room, drying room, boot racks and ski and snowboard storage areas. Blankets are provided in bedrooms, but guests must bring their own bed sheets, pillow cases and towels. Yalara is a self-catering lodge. A list of bedroom and bathroom cleaning duties can be found on the back of each bedroom door, and cleaning materials are provided. A professional cleaner is usually employed to clean communal areas including the lounge room, kitchen, shared bathrooms and games room once a week from the July school holidays until mid-September, however guests are also expected to keep these areas clean and tidy throughout the week. They may also be asked by the elected house captain to perform additional duties, such as cleaning windows, vacuuming communal areas and clearing snow around emergency exit points. It is extremely important that guests follow these directions, particularly when it concerns safety. Outside peak season there is no cleaner employed, and it is crucial that guests leave the lodge spotless during this period for the comfort of future guests.
