Buy snow Budapest

Budapest is one of our favourite European capital cities. From its stunning architecture to its delicious food, this city has something for everyone. The country of Hungary lies within the center of Europe, situated between Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Slovakia, and Romania, therefore weather varies greatly throughout the year. Therefore, the question is, does it snow in Budapest? Put simply, YES it does snow in Budapest. However, if you are planning a trip to Budapest in the winter, do not rely on seeing snow, as it is not guaranteed. Frost is most common, which can definitely still add some aesthetic charm to this beautiful city. However, every day had picturesque blue skies, without so much as a hint of snow. Yet, we kind of love these blue crisp winter days, and Budapest is full of them. There is a chance of snow throughout winter, starting in November and potentially lasting all the way until early March. However, late December, January and the beginning of February are the best times to see snow in Budapest. Unlike the surrounding countries of Austria and Serbia, there is less likely to be thick heavy snow in Budapest. That being said, any light dusting of snow can transform the city into a winter wonderland, making it an even more beautiful winter destination. This is great for people who want to explore all this beautiful city has to offer, without having to wear 20 layers of clothing. However, if you want to escape the crowds and still get some summer sun, then we would recommend visiting in Spring or Autumn. In the winter months temperatures rapidly drop, resulting in in temperatures frequently below freezing, especially during late December and January. However, we loved visiting in winter. Plus, there is so much that you can only do in winter hello Christmas markets making it a really great time to visit. If it is thick snow you are after, then Hungary has plenty of options to fulfill your winter desires. As it is a mountainous country, there are plenty of places you can visit in the snow. This is definitely one of the best places in Hungary to visit if you want to experience snow and try out some winter sports. More commonly known as a summer destination, Lake Balaton can transform into a quiet winter getaway. Known for its picturesque rolling hills and charming villages, this area turns into a winter wonderland in the colder months. Budapest has so many amazing activities to do while visiting, and some are even better during a cold crisp winters day. With Vajdahunyad Castle as a backdrop, this has got to be one of the best places to ice skate in the world. Want to take full advantage of the snow? Then head to Normafe Park. Here you can bring a sled proper or make-shift and go for a ride down the gentle or slightly steeper slopes. During mid-November and throughout December, Budapest is transformed into a winter wonderland with its picturesque Christmas markets. Scattered throughout the city are Christmas stalls selling hand-crafted souvenirs, mulled wine, delicious street food, and much much more. However, if you just want to wander around the city you are bound to stumble upon several market stalls and chimney cake stands. The interior architecture is breathtaking, and the coffee is just as amazing. This is a chocolate lovers paradise, with lots of variety of hot chocolates and cakes to enjoy. No matter the weather or time of year, the natural thermal baths are a must when visiting Budapest. There are natural springs scattered throughout Budapest, many of which are within bathhouses, where you can relax and warm up. Try avoiding the weekend when prices can be higher and the pools can get busy. If you would prefer to avoid the cold then there are plenty of options of museums and art galleries to choose from. Alternatively, if you want a more unique museum, then check out the House of Terror. Temperatures can drop below freezing, so make sure to bring plenty of warm layers so you can wrap up warm. We would recommend wearing multiple thin layers and thermals, so that you can easily adjust what you are wearing throughout the day as you warm up. Make sure you also wear comfortable footwear with good grip, as the pavement can be slippery when it is icy. Budapest is home to a variety of public transport options that can save you time and energy whilst exploring this city. From buses, trams, and the metro, Budapest has it all to make your visit easier. All of these transport options have been designed so that you can still utilise them even in the snow. Make sure not to miss out on riding the famous Tram number 2, which is one of the most scenic tram rides in Europe. And the metro itself is absolutely beautiful. If you want to avoid most of the crowds, and get the best lighting for photos, we would recommend getting up as early as possible. During the early hours, the city is peaceful and full of wonder and beautiful sites to explore. However, if you do get up early be aware that the temperature will be colder compared to later on in the day, so dress accordingly. Last but not least make sure to have fun in the snow! Have a snowball flight with your friends or family while admiring the beautiful Parliament Building, or just people-watch in City Park. After all, there is no better way to enjoy the snow than acting like a little kid. Budapest is such a beautiful city with so many incredible accommodation options, it can be difficult to choose! The location is good, with public transport just outside, and many chic bars and restaurants nearby. The hotel is a little quirky, with plenty of character and charm. It is located walking distance from all the main tourist attractions. The service is world-class, and the location is excellent. Still have some questions about visiting Budapest in the snow? This is definitely a difficult question as Budapest has so much to offer. You could easily spend a week wandering the cobblestone streets and still find beautiful places to explore. We would recommend spending at least 3 full days in Budapest so you can enjoy all the main sights, as well as exploring the Christmas Markets. Although snow is possible from as early as November, and as late as March, the most likely time to see snow in Budapest is in January. In January, temperatures are at their coldest, easily reaching below freezing. Snow can never be guaranteed, however, there is the possibility of having snow on Christmas in Budapest. Basic safety protocols should be taken when exploring Budapest, however, we felt very safe while exploring Budapest, even during the night. As long as you are sensible and trust your instincts you should be safe in Budapest. In conclusion, YES it does snow in Budapest. You can expect snow any time between mid-November and early-March.
